Hi Everyone,

I have a 1972 Fireball machine and when a ball drops into the left kickout hole it makes a loud constant noise until the ball is released. Everything works fine, it's just the loud noise, which is a sort of grinding, hammering noise. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Best,
Jason

Gary, thanks so much for the reply. In the manual, under assembly coils, I see Odin Eject part #A-27-1300. And a google search shows hits for bally pinball solenoid coils, between $20-$30. Is that what I'm looking for? Thanks again. Jason

I could be wrong but if not it's a case of finding the correct switch activated by the cam and clean and adjust.

Best get more advice before spending money.

So I had a chance to lift the hood. The noise is coming from something labeled FLASH MOTOR UNIT. It spins constantly (and makes a loud noise) when a ball is in the left kickout but it doesn’t spin at all when a ball is in the right kickout. Thanks for any advice!

It’s been a while since I had a Fireball, but when you lock the ball in the Odin hole I think the hole insert lights are supposed to start cycling round, and you then score whichever value is lit when you release the ball.

This motor may be the thing cycling the lights, or do your lights not do that?

You're right, the lights do cycle when the ball is in the Odin hole. Is that motor really supposed to be that loud? Doesn't seem right to me.
