So you register an account.

Add stuff to your basket, and choose "collect today" and when you checkout, that's it.. your items are ready to collect at your local store in 5 minutes.

Well as my local store is five minutes away i've tested this theory out twice now and yep, both times everything was waiting for me! Perfect!

Despite the store not actually being that big, they seem to have a huge amount of stuff actually in stock, which is a refreshing change!

Also their gold screw plus(which are like a copy of Spax screws with the serrated blades on them) are pretty decent and a quarter of the price!

Ha ha, bad prices, bad quality and sold to the general public and diy'ers pretending to be tradesmen

I'll have to challenge you on "bad prices" there as I have all 3 of the major DIY stores, plus 2 trade places within a few minutes drive of my house and screwfix is cheaper on most items, that all of them. It's very easy with the internet these days to compare prices between companies.

Yep, cheaper and quality on most things is fine too imo, certainly no worse quality than diy stores or our local buildbase trade outlet. Whenever I go to screwfix, there are always loads of trade vehicles outside too.

well, i own 4 trade shops and my customers were laughing, if you take speedfit fittings for example my customers would never pay the prices from screwfix, but then i dont know if you are tradesmen or not ?
maybe you only have Arkwrights up North ?
I dont know any large trader who puts his real prices on the net ? That would include, plumb center, travis perkins, pts etc?
But for the diy and very small odd job guys , and people who are not in the trade its ok ?

Screws and fittings generally are cheaper at Screwfix. Other stuff can vary, but you can get some good deals there on small tools. When I've bought and plumbing or electrical stuff I go to local trade places for the best deals though.

Screwfix has always been good when I've been there.

Travis Perkins are more expensive than screwfix and speedfit fittings are for cowboys :p

You obviously don't have an account there and you might be right about speed fit, but don't buy any home built in the last 10 years, coz you gonna have plastic ,

We do come up against them for tools when they have a lost leader sometimes ?

Get you.

:)Big congrats go to Replica, and Robbie, with a minor mention for JT.

Robbie said a Northerner would bite if I posted that :)

I don't think anyone was bothered by the Northern reference. We were laughing at you bigging yourself up about your "4 stores". ROFLMAO

Ahhh so it was a nasty retort then ? :)

Thx for clarifying, and are you a Northerner ?

Yeh, we all need to hand out insults to each other while we are having a beer together.
Its way more fun that way.

Wait, I don't get it? So I shouldn't be using Screwfix because you own 4 trade shops? That does't really help me.

Ignoring the trolling, I just placed my 5th order with Screwfix and for the 5th time, everything was in stock at the local store, and the order was ready and waiting for me when I arrived yet again (it actually takes me 6 minutes to get there)

Also got a cracking deal on an MK consumer unit fully populated, unbeatable on the whole of the internets.

Happy again to give thumbs up to Screwfix

Give me speedfit fittings any day.

Only a cowboy would use copper in a private water situation, you dont want any chance of the copper leeching into your supply.

Now I'm a general builder, brickie by trade but manage all types of jobs, big and small.

In Cheltenham we have a very large independent merchant called Bences, excellent for everything with keen prices.
We have 2 Travis Perkins that myself and countless other guys I know wouldn't touch with a barge pole even tho we have accounts(rip off merchants) avoid!!
We have a Buildbase, great guys and ok prices when u haggle, and finally...

we have a Screwfix. Now I use them on occasions and have absolutely no issues with them. I click and collect and the stuff is there.
Their prices are keen but due to the nature of the business its a 1 price fits all, no haggle, fair enough but items can be bought cheaper sometimes from merchants or specialist outlets.
For diy'ers, it can be easy and a 1 stop shop. They must be doing something right!! :)
Prices are keen and that's why I like them. There is something for everyone there so you can buy ****e which is fine for a diy'er.
If you need guttering, buy their's,bloody good stuff I tell tha :)

As far as screws have been mentioned (unsure if screwfix sell) Reisser screws, found them better and cheaper than Spax
