Well... this has been going on for a while so here we go. I’ll update as best I can.

She arrived at the very beginning of lockdown, was out through a 3 day quarantine before I could get in and have a look over it.

it’s a classic project, just absolute filth throughougu

I wanted to do my best restore to date on this, so I started with the cabinet which looked a little crappy. it was taken out into the garden and given a once over. All of the cabinet hardware taken off and repainted black too.

The cabinet furniture was taken out also and repainted black before refitting. The cabinet art isn’t A1, but it’s better than some I’ve had. That’s a bridge too far on this one.

The Playfield went back in at this point simply to allow me to work on the game. I left the head off and put a brace against the wall. It allows it to lean back a little further just to get to those hard to reach bottom bits.

Stripping back the playfield it was in pretty good condition. But filthy. The scoop kickouts which will be getting fitt

Here the cleanup continues and the scoops have been filled in preparation (H)

All the mechs were taken out and cleaned up as needed. Especially those that have optos which have all been cleaned.

The goalkeeper was just knackered and falling apart. When taken out. It fell apart worse than a Liverpool keeper in a champions league final (hey @Wayne J hey ;) )

Off to @Colywobbles to see what he can construct, these get a battering... so it can’t be standard plastics. The sub is ready to come one though.

Both flipper bats on this had been hammered or were just unlucky. Old ones thrown out. Replacements on hand.

Waiting for some hideous Norwich city mod to the game.

In last years final we didn't even need a goalkeeper, due to Spurs not even having a shot on target.

Pretty similar to the games against Norwich in the league (Obviously the league as Norwich haven't qualified for Europe since I was at Uni)

A little more work tonight, the head went back on it. All boots but no DMD, this one is toast. Seller sending new one, which is great but stick here for a bit now waiting on that and some plastics and bits from Germany. Might do a GOTG stream tomorrow night, who fancy’s some beer and pinball??

Not a lot today after a leak came through the ceiling which diverted my attention. Still waiting on DMD to come through and some plastic stuff too for the goalie as it’s a special project going on there. The mini PF could be sorted though.

Had the meter on the switches and on the magnet coil and all buzzed out as expected. Bracket needed adjusting to be flush.

Love it when that magnet grabs the ball, gives me time for a mouthful of lager😜
You going for the standard goalie sticker or one of the new country ones? I’m waiting until mine is worn out☺️
Fancied a new ball but so expensive for what it is, they mark up quick.

Dirty Ramp

Clean ramp

The little PF is held in by three bolts/screws and needs to be jigged with to drop down the cables through it - it’s the tightest part of the job I remember from disassembly. The boy has just woken up so, this will wait.

More ramp cleaning -

Some more protector bits off to @Colywobbles - once that yellow this bad, they’re no good. Col can make em up precise and beautiful. Note the ramp flap mod due to a split on the out edge of one of the plastics

A little more jigging, especially around the wires to the under side of playfield but all fun and games. Then here she is.

Not sure this will work..

Looks sooooo good, dare to do a video of its first switch on & play? [emoji6]

When I get a DMD - happy to give it a go.... still no sign of one :(

Backbox GI sorted, a string was out but resolved. The kit I ordered had 5 GI comets short but one extra SMD. Can you guess the 5 🤪

I would have been soldering all kinds of crap before I changed out 5 brand new bulbs!!

That is if I'm reading you right 🤔

GI is really simple to check. Voltage between pins on the board. Continuity from board to end of string, then individual lamp sockets can be checked with a multimeter too if the bulb isn’t working.

the issue was, believe it or not, with the alignment of the metal pins on the comet bulbs. The kit I bought was 5 bulbs short, so I had to fish around in the “odds and sodds” bin for now...
