Yeah - its going to need something to power that wee dot matrix, but power aside does it activate when the light is flashing and go off (or show something else) when it isnt ?

Yes. Based on the original 2 modes. Lock On/Off.

Ok I’ve just had a look at mine. The led block is held in place with double sided foam tape.
It is piggy backed onto the lock lamp and takes power via an adapter cable onto J116.

Thanks. I was planing for J116 or J117. I know there is 12v under the heads(the motor runs on 12v). BUt this might still be the normal way!.

Is this just driven from the Lock light ?

Yes. status of the lock light! If lamp flash within 3 sec, the lock mode is playing!

You have a bridge rectifier there, could you just pull power from a nearby GI bulb? Can't imagine the LED array uses much power.

The GI is around 6v(if I remember correctly. And with voltage drop it's not enough to get stable power. ) Maybe if I redesign, but for now fairly quick'n'dirty.

Will there be a way to change or reduce the brightness on the display?

I will release the code, so you should be able to change that within. 0-15, that's the intensity I have available. Or change 2 smd resistors on the board

FYI! I am working on a Lock Mod based on the work made by PinballDoctor. In testing stage ATM. Will release code/schematic/BOM when done.
And sales might be coming, if not by me then someone else. It will be cost-optimized!

Just a quick update. Got the display(with a reversed connector, I flipped it by mistake. But only needed 5 out of 6 pins, so removed pin that was "misaligned"). Now I just need to recheck mainboard and press the order button!!

So mistakes were made. A missing screw-terminal was not included in the BOM and I might need to change 3 resistors. I am almost ready to ship. So within a month!

I should probably try connecting up the one I made to my roadshow... Still somewhat of a prototype currently.
I could certainly turn it into something I'm sure - but I didn't wanna be stepping on Magiskes toes.
