Pinhaus: Gone Flippin', Leave a Message on 29th April

Under a month to go! A reminder if anyone can't make it, due change of plans or heart 😆 please let us know as soon as you can.
We were probably a little optimistic with the player count, it's certainly going to be an intense day of pinball! Due to this if there are any drop outs we may not fill the spots😄

Game list is now finalised
(unless @Spandangler sells Baywatch in the meantime)

Space Shuttle (Zaccaria 1980)
Centaur 🎉 (Bally 1981)
Locomotion (Zaccaria 1981)
Genesis (Gottlieb 1986) - provided by @MajesticPinball
Diner (Williams 1990)
Fish Tales (Williams 1992)
Creature From the Black Lagoon (Bally 1992)
Red and Ted’s Road Show (Williams 1994)
Dogball / World Cup Soccer 94 (Bally 1994) - provided by @Jmac
Attack from Mars (Bally 1995)
Junkyard (Williams 1996)
Baywatch (Sega 1996) - Cheers to the fantastic @Spandangler)

The format we're using allows you to submit your own results via Matchplay, so if you have a Matchplay account it will help speed the day up! (If not it's no problem)
Here's the Matchplay for those interested

Any questions regarding format and the day please feel free to ask!

Everyone attending should have either received a PM on the forum or an email (if I didn't know your forum name) with info about the event - our address, payment info, lunch menu, and the Matchplay link.

Let me know if you haven't received it, or if you have any questions!

Sadly, James is not able to make it as he's unwell - we've contacted everyone on the waiting list, but do let me know if you're free at the weekend and want to come along! :)

Spot filled by Dan Pocklington of Pinball Office fame 🤣

But another spot is free if anyone is tempted by a trip to Sudbury on Saturday to play a chaotic round robin!

First come first served...

We're full again. Dan Pocklington (Of Pinball Office Fame), joins The Swaffields, Graham and Helen😄

This means that the top four from the pinball office league will be attending! This calls for an unofficial final 😉

I was a little optimistic with player numbers, ideally we should have kept it to 24 and not filled the spots as I am concerned about the new format not being timed so a risk of it running later with more games required due to the amount of players.
Hopefully it'll all go well and the main comp will only run around 30mins longer than our flip frenzies did.

So please bare in mind this will be our first time running it as a round robin and we're not 100% confident on how long it will take. We'll only know by trying 😄
If everyone arrives in good time, we may start the comp early, by only 15-30mins just get a head start.

Weather...
I started checking the forecast nearly a month ago and this weekend was looking awful, heavy rain for the entire weekend. Every day the forecast would change slightly but the rain would remain in one shape or form.

This was anxiety inducing as most of our space is outside..
So yesterday I set up a great camping shelter/gazebo from @Spandangler
Checked the updated forecast and Saturday is to be dry 🙈🤣

So we may leave it set up to protect you all from the Suffolk Sun and offer a cosy shelter.

Once again here's the Matchplay

Great player line-up, suspect I'm going to spend all day getting my a*** handed to me 😂

I'm sure you holding up the rear will be appreciated, @Spandangler always needs company.

I predict It's going to be tight on the standings considering you get 1pt for winning a match and you're playing 25 matches. There will be a lot of ties. But this means one win can push you right up the standings 😄

All about the taking part... Yadda Yadda 🤣

I did see a JEZ with a decent score on World Cup Soccer 😉

What a brilliant day!!
Thanks to Claire and David for opening up their home and hosting. We always love attending your meets.
Loved the format! Our favourite yet!
Well done to Greg, Gene, Reece and Matt.
Thanks also to Lee for the all the lovely food.
Lovely as always to chat to everyone in between rounds.
Thanks again and see you all at a tournament soon.
Diane and Clive 😊😊

Another standout day at the 'Pinhaus'. Many thanks to David and Claire for generously organising and hosting these great events and for all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes ( not least Lee for being head chef). Our 'sad/mad' community of pinheads is well blessed by you guys.
The new format was excellent and ran really smoothly, great to be able to meet and play against all the other competitors.
Congrats to the finalists and Greg for winning.
Looking forward to the next one as always.
Cheers 👍

Thanks so much to Claire and David for hosting another great event. As others have said, prefer the new format as is much less hectic, giving you more time to relax and also fairier playing everyone. It's a great chilled and sociable event with some awesome people who make it all the more enjoyable.

Also huge thanks to Lee for providing the tasty chilli and curry - very generous even more so as he couldn't make the whole day and just came to socialise later on.

Very well played to Gene, a great qualifying session, Reece and Matt who played really well all day and was then ridiculously unlucky in the final with 3 house balls on the first game of Centaur.

Just to echo everything above what a great day it was and a fantastic way to play in my first pinball tournament. It was a really relaxed setting with plenty of opportunity to chill and chat to people who were all very welcoming. The format of playing everyone worked really well.
My goal was to avoid the wooden spoon and despite propping up the table in the period after lunch a series of being drawn on games I knew well helped me to mid table which was a huge win for me.
Highlight was almost 400m on Fishtales (sorry Gaz for making you stand around so long 🤣) Should of been more but just couldnt hit the super jackpot
Apologies to David and Claire for having to shoot off in such a rush after qualifying- the family confirmation party I had to pop my head into wasn’t half as fun.
Can’t wait for the next one at the Pinhaus!

I appreciate all the kind words, I had been messing and testing the format since late last year when Andreas (Matchplay creator) started a beta for the new format. So I was so keen to give it a go. Not that we dislike the Flip Frenzy but it can mean multiple repeat opponents and it's good to change it up (Plus IFPA nerfed flip frenzies so this gives a good alternative if you care about WPPRs).

I was really worried that fitting in that many games would take much longer and that it would be less social as there's no real queue so you don't know how long you have but from everyone's feedback it sounds like it ended up more social ! Which is perfect! 🎉 I think having only 9 active games at once helped as there was always at least 6 people waiting.

To think I worried that I'd need to have all 12 games active to get through the games in the time we'd allocated 😄

Although feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive if anyone has any more feedback on how the format was and how it ran on the day please let us know 😁

We try keep our little niche of chaotic competition but chilled social event rough round the edges with silly gimmicks we're now committed to continuing (like the souvineers which started as a joke 🙈).

Thanks to everyone who came, those who brought cakes, drinks, snacks!

It's the people that make our little Pinball scene so special and yesterday was a great example of that.

Huge thanks to @Spandangler for Baywatch (& and the Gazebo for the heavy forecast rain). @Jmac for Dogball (WCS) which I think was a favourite during the day. @MajesticPinball for Genesis (the shortest playing game of the day🤣) and so sorry James couldn't make it, you were missed!

As usual I'll leave the tournament standings and other bits to @Lecari who is still recovering 😄
