Complete LOTR some housekeeping with a clean and tidy

So last night I made a start by removing the large Path of the dead mod, the movie prop sword and the Pinstadiums as I don’t think this pin needs them helped by the fact I have controlled lighting in my pinroom.
The sword both Gabe & pinmate Jamie preferred it stay but I prefer my balls to be visible and both of these obscured them slightly.
I must agree some balls look better obscured by a large Sword but not on this occasion.;)

I started stripping the left side of the playfield to save moving the pin as I only had a few hours spare due to the festivities.

Luckily I had a full plastic set for this pin which I found hidden in its belly alongside lots of other LOTR goodies so I decided to fit the LE slings (figureless ones) another way to de clutter the PF as it’s packed enough IMO. Check out the design of the protectors not only were they actual size they had designed in a few nice weak points so the 1st ball hit would break them and unsurprisingly must have.
I make all my protectors at least 1mm oversize and in any areas need extra protection take it up a notch to 1.5. This not only adds more strength but added bling with their Flourecent nature.

I then removed the POTD mod and the path itself and spent 30 mins with Novis to polish out the hazy ball paths obscuring the art below. Polished up the thin metal rails and hey presto much nicer now and this old dog can now see the rabbit (ball) when it enters the area.

oh I also freed Saruman from his chains and locked him in place with a protector underneath which highlights him a little better.

I did intend to colour the rubbers with some perfect play ones but raked out some of my black stash for now and maybe revisit next spring clean.

Today I’ll mostly be hitting the opposite side to remove the original sword clean up and add a few protectors to that area.

I like the apron Col.
It is really nice when lit but at the moment all mods are disabled I’ll not go into it but it was well overloaded and drawing far to much current blowing 2 fuses the 1st game I had On it which was quite the drama!

Not a lot done today with both family commitments and actually the amount of work in removing the sword and other bits n Bob’s being a bit of a palava. Nice clear access down the whole right side so some of Phils foaming cleaner applied and cleaned a couple of times. Finished off with a little buff and wax with Gerlitz and she looking sweet.

Next job make up all the remaining protectors as I intend doing a full set for this pin with it being a definite keeper that won’t leave the collection*

*till I decide to move it on that is ;)

Took that sword mod off mine too, looks much better on my wall😁
Might have to take that potd mod off as well, four figure one. Uncluttered looking without.

I much prefer both without as LOTR quite a loaded pin to start with and at least I have a chance of nudging down the correct path now I can see the ball clearly.

I didn’t realise how important the Aeowen divertor/ protector was IMO its a must have and should have really been fitted at factory! Now the ball happily makes it onto the ramp 100% of the time where before a lot of the time it rolls straight onto the aforementioned plasticbattering it to oblivion eventually I expect.

You are missing out on a potential 350 souls though should it drop into the VUK which it can do. Alternatively there is a small plastic ramp mod that protects the plastic and allows you to get those souls still!

Oh I’ve only just got the game last week and haven’t played much or studied the rules.
Does 350 souls make a big difference to score or gameplay? And do you have a pic of that ramp so I can knock one up.

Thx Col

This is the protector: http://redshiftled.com.au/Plastic-stuff.php

You need 5000 souls to get rotk multiball. 350 might save you a potd trip but it's not gamebreaking either.

The advantage of the diverter as you have it currently is it speeds the game up just a bit (one less vuk to fire). But if you're in a hurry this is the wrong game anyway 😂

I have the same diverter/plastic on mine and the ball can still go on it and drop sometimes, I did put a washer under the top end which has helped.
I would be interested in the other version if you make one😎

I have a The hobbit I know all about long games hehe.
Not a fan of that ramp looks too MacGyver for me and I’m trying to declutter the pin as much as possible.
I’ll live with the divertor until I decide if I want to make an Aeowen overlay or not.

Well all finished in the housekeeping front and went a little overboard with the clean and tidy by making myself 22 Plastic protectors which took most of yesterday to make and fit with a few amendments along the way but looks beautiful and sadly pics don’t do it justice but here’s a few anyway.

1st off I finished this lot off which took most of yesterday up inc the Sword which I went orange which suits IMO and some of these were quite big.

Some finished pics with invisiglass in place

Well happy with outcome a lot less cluttered with a little added bling now for some games and decide if it’s replacing one of my keepers as something has to give Before R7M lands.

That looks much better, orange sword works nicely👍 Less is more sometimes.
Noticed the wire guide or whatever they are called behind the flippers, is that standard on the original as my LE doesn’t have them?
