Here is a real quick mini shop log for a recently acquired Ghostbusters Premium from November 2016.
I wanted to post this to show a couple of things as my machine hadn’t had a couple of the technical updates applied and a few interesting mods are being fitted so thought you may find it useful, if not for a gb but another stern machine.
So firstly there are 3 technical updates that I know of, the first regarding insulation on a flasher board had been done.
The second one regarding the dodgy fitting of a cable tie and spacer I won’t be doing as there’s more risk doing the ‘upgrade’ than leaving it, and as I’ve had no issues I will leave well alone.
The final update is the fitting of plug in capacitors on 2 Node boards, this hasn’t been done but I’ve now ordered them and will fit on arrival.
Now onto the machine itself -
It is in immaculate condition and it plays really well without a huge drain issue or Airballs once I’d reduced flipper power to normal and that’s without airball protectors fitted etc.
So I’ve fitted the usual Colordmd but LED version, invisiglass which is the single biggest improvement you can make to a machine in my opinion, a 10” flipper fidelity cab speaker and bb speakers and a shaker motor.
I’ve also fitted the real knocker kit which is a must for Stern machines, extremely well done and easy to fit.
I’m a huge fan of mirror blades but loved the Stern inner art side decals as they are by the same artist that did the rest of the machine and as it has a really nice backboard, it looks really great to go right around and look the same, however, the backboard art is glossy but the decals are Matt, so I’ve fitted side art protectors which are the same material as the playfield protectors and I must say ‘wow’, it’s completely transformed inside the machine to look exactly the same all the way round - stunning !
I’ve put some felt strip on the side of the playfield to prevent any scratching when raising and lowering the playfield.
Playfield stripped and cleaned, then playfield protector fitted.
I also obtained stringer springs for the scolari drop targets and they now work as they should.
I’ve changed some of the GI with purple passion bulbs.
I’ve also got a 2 tab purple mini dome, cut one tab off and replaced the clear white dome flasher just above the Librarian scoop as the White was too bright.
I fitted the proton side rails which look really good.
Will supply pics tomorrow of the slime river mod, ecto goggles mod, sling protectors and slime rail covers along with some pics of the multi directional bulbs I’m fitting to the slings and return lanes.
The flippers are badly discoloured so a new set on order along with some different coloured acrylics which add some colour to the mode ladder inserts
