Not sure whether I should do this, but here we go .....

Took a lot of finding to get one in this condition. I have asked around knowledgeable folk for a value, these are sought after but very rarely come up for sale.

Given how rarely these trade I will consider sensible four figure offers before I put it on Gumtree.

Bought from a forum member but has been tombstoned since and never even connected up. Stored inside my house while I was building my pinshed.

It was the second game to go into my new pinshed today. It fired up first time. But the reality is that I have 13 games and my shed seats 12. I am knee deep in refurbing my centaur/ scared stiff and I do not have the appetite to tune/ clean/ fiddle with Flash Gordon too as virtually all of my maintenance mojo has been depleted by my new pinshed.

Other than the cash box, I have not stripped out the nice stuff like the altek boards or original solenoids, nice coin door, or anything else to put in my other Classic Ballys.

The good ...

  • Lovely backglass, virtually mint other than a 5p sized bit of wear caused by the lock mechanism at the top right. As good as you will likely find in the UK. See photos
  • Every solenoid, switch and lamp works
  • The high voltage strobe in the backbox works
  • Playfield under Mylar so in very good order
  • No broken plastics
  • Full set of correct drops
  • Full set of correct pops
  • Nice and clean internals, not filthy and corroded to hell like so many games this age are
  • Two altek boards - mpu and solenoid
  • Not water damaged, given the shiny metal it has led a dry life
  • The squawk and talk board sounds ok
  • This game has been shown love in the past. Evidenced by the Altek boards and also the re-capping of the sound board
  • Even smells ok !
The bad
  • Cabinet has faded, like they all do
  • The Mylar is lifting at the edges in some places, so some exposed glue needs removing where the Mylar has trimmed back
  • A previous owner very proficiently soldered wires (then carefully insulated them) to the mpu board rather than rebuilding the connector ! See photo. BUT it worked and there is no need to remove these as you can take the head off leaving these wires and the board in place
  • The player two display is showing some minor burn, but still works fine and these original displays are available second hand as folk upgrade them to LEDs. See photo
  • Fully working game, but needs switches adjusting/ some mechs cleaning/ some solenoid sleeves/ new linear flipper cams (available) etc to get it properly tuned
