A random request on the basis of the 'more people you ask the more likely something might turn up' to see if anyone on here happens to have any leads or knows any contacts with a flatshare/room/houseshare in London that might work for my daughter in and around London.

The market for finding rented accommodation in London seems to be completely nuts (as it is in many parts of the UK) and although she found a place at a little bit of a discount (due to Covid depressing the market) back in Aug 2021, the reward for being a model tenant, but mentioning to the landlord's agent that the catch on the bathroom window was broken has been a visit from the agent (a perfectly pleasant individual in their own right) who has advised that a) they can fix the catch within 2 weeks & b) that the Landlord is looking at increasing the rent by 30%, wants a new 12 month contract commitment and that if they put it on the open market there would be lots of interest with people invited to make offers in excess of what the landlord wants. To a degree 'scare stories', but the reality is there does seem to be a degree of truth in what the agent says and there is no doubt the rent will go up a chunk & a new fixed term contract need to be signed if she wants to stay where she is.

Her experiences looking over the last 3-4 months (in anticipation of rental increase) vindicate the difficulties in even getting to look at somewhere, let alone being able to move. Just this afternoon through a London accommodation based facegroup group she is a member of a post for a flat which would tick most of her boxes location wise and affordability wise had 40 people responding to say they were interested within 1 hour:eek::oops:😭

So she's really looking to share with people in early/mid-20's, with a reasonable (35-45 min?) commute to where her office base is (about 10 mins walk from Westminster Tube), comfortable in principle with sharing with female & male, would need scope for some home working (spaces, connectivity) , can provide references & obviously has a father with a pinball machine :)):)). Being closer in is definitely a preference/benefit as she's of an age to be able to enjoy that 'Central London' vibe and lots of the things it offers to the younger generation.

A bit of a long shot, but if anyone knows of anything coming up or has any contacts that might be relevant, please feel free to PM me.

Cheers
Nick
