My recent vector snapped a drop target in the x,y,z bank so I investigated. Vector has two types of drops.

The x,y,z that are relatively simple, with a single reset solenoid

And the 2 banks of 3 defender drops that have the single reset solenoid, but also an individual solenoid on each target that can drop them individually by striking the targets with the individual solenoid plungers

One pic is the side of the xyz mech. It has two axles to attach the springs to that pull the drop targets down. why 2 axles They do not carry much weight. One axle is in the larger 6mm hole with very obvious wear. The other is in a smaller hole with minimal wear.

The other picture is of the more complex mechanism for the defenders. There is a large 6mm or so hole that has been worn larger by a small axle at some stage. Adjacent to this is a small hole with the axel that the 3 springs are currently attached to

Any ideas what had happened here ? I imagine that originally a small axle was in place in the 6mm holes, but this wore the metal away, so someone put these skinny axels in adjacent holes about 2mm across ?

Is wear what killed my drop target ? I can't think it is, as this axle just looks like it is used for tensioning the three springs that pull the drop targets down. Should the tensioner springs be on 6mm axles ?

Many thanks
