Just testing the water here but I'm toying with the idea of having myself a Williams SPACE SHUTTLE. I only have room for 3 pins so something else will have to go. I'd be most interested in a non-working or barely working project machine because I probably don't have the funds for anything better.

If nothing else, I'd be interested to hear opinions about what this machine is worth in the UK?

Thanks guys :)

It's a great table so I cant really imagine one being that cheap. I'd happily pay 500 notes for a battered working example.

Great game, the saviour of pinball and all that!

Matt Vince had one he was looking to sell a while ago, might be worth seeing if he still has it?

I had a feeling it was going to be quite rare in the UK even though 7,000 units were made. Very US-centric game. Plus I don't remember seeing many pinballs during or after 1984... think the UK was mostly over them by then and well into video games.

I've had a couple over the years, playfield wear is always an issue if not mylared from new (the first one I had is the only game I've ever done a blank playfield swap on) also the backglass is old enough to be screen printed so can suffer from damp.

Good luck in your search, well worth tracking one down!

Which one to go ? Might it begin with a V ?
Mmm... You're not the first to ask! Well, considering VECTOR is currently the only working pin I have it's the only way I'm going to raise any reasonable amount of capital. I can't part with PARAGON no matter what - first pin love and all that. Plus it's just a pile of parts though some of them are ridiculously shiny. In reality I suspect I'd have to part with VECTOR and GOLD BALL to have nearly enough for a SPACE STATION, and even then it'd probably be another project!

Still. Never say never ;)

Tend to agree with the comment above. But given the astonishing amount of work you are putting into them, would you ever be able to sell one ?

It is one thing getting a "player", using it for 6m and swapping it out. But given the lengths you are going to

My money would be on extended accommodation to house a growing portfolio. Big shed in the garden perhaps

Whats the holdup with Paragon? was enjoying that thread!
PARAGON shifted to the back-burner when GOLD BALL arrived. GB was supposed to sit in the corner, my little bargain to unpack on a future rainy day. But curiosity got the better of me and I had a quick poke to see what was wrong. Because I learnt so much from PARAGON I could see pretty much straight away what was wrong and that it would be pretty quick to fix - "Oh, I'll get that MPU going again in an evening..."

And I did get it going again very quickly, which then made me think I should do a "quick" shop-job on it so that it played nicely. The full-on return-to-glory restoration can wait for another day, sort of thing.

So, I'm about half way through repopulating the playfield. It's slow going polishing everything with a Dremel but as those of you who have looked at my shop logs know it's very shiny. It's actually a good thing because I'm learning things which will be useful for PARAGON and it's nice to make the mistakes on a less important machine. But as @DRD said I'd probably be unable to sell either PARAGON or GOLD BALL after investing so much effort into them. They really are very beautiful things.

I'll be stuffed if I ever shop VECTOR... ;)
