Hi, my Indy has developed a problem, I hope there might be help out there? Buttons on inside of door, the one that puts it into adjustment mode does nothing. I’ve checked wiring, all seems good, I’ve shorted out switch, still nothing. Left hand button still racks up replays, two middle buttons still adjust sound level but right hand button, nothing. I’ve checked main board for battery leaks but all is fine. Any ideas please.

disconnect the wire from the non working button and touch it to ground (the common rail on the switches).

These switches do fail an awful lot. I just double up the connections.

If doubling up the connections does not work, but the wire touched to ground operates the function then replace the swtich.

If that doesnt work - check continuity from that wire to the CPU board.

If the switch & connection checks out OK, Is there any battery damage on the CPU board?

Hi, i have shorted the switch to ground but no joy. I would test the continuity to the board if I knew which connector on the board it is! Do you know? Thanks...

There is no damage on the board, I replaced battery holder a long time ago and the board is perfect, I think. Do you know which connector on the board I can test continuity with? Thanks....

Yes you are right it is J205. I have checked the continuity from switch to pin and all is good. Board looks good so I don’t know where to go now. Thanks for your help.

So if the wiring is all correct and grounding the wire at the board doesn’t trigger the switch, then it is an issue with the board. Maybe U16 or U17 depending on which of those two your problem switch connects to? those two feed U15, so could be that too. Have you got a logic probe to see what’s going on with those ics?

Incase you didn't find this pic, I think this diagram should halp as AlanJ said above, you should be looking around U16 & U17. That should help you get a little closer.

I almost understand it before I start getting lost myself.... click for large version.
I'd take the board out and test the voltages feeding power in from an old PC power supply or other external power supply feeding you the +5 & +12 volts. That's what I was doing last year...
