Williams EM Teacher's Pet Ball Problem

I had a problem getting the ball counter to work on my Teacher's Pet which is now fixed but now when the machine starts everything resets as it should and the 'ball in display' shows ball 1. However, as soon as the ball is launched into the trough it immediately jumps to show 'ball 2' in play.
Where do I adjust this to stop it happening?
Thanks...

I'd check the drain switch first to see if it thinks the ball has already drained from play...

Hi,

Whilst I'm not 100% sure about Williams E/M games, I'd expect there to be a switch on the track between outhole and shooter lane. If so, this switch advances the ball counter. Maybe the ball count unit isn't re-setting fully, i.e. it returns to '1' rather than '0', and then the track switch advances it to '2'.

I'm supposing this based on a Gottlieb E/M I owned, where the contacts were worn on the disc of the ball counter. After playing the final ball, the circuitry wouldn't go to Game Over, and served out the ball again. However, the track switch acted as a fail-safe, and stepped the unit to Game Over. Then the game wouldn't restart properly until the ball was returned to the outhole.

Hi Jay,
That makes sense! I will check that out in the morning. Thanks for your help.

Still having problems getting this to reset! The Ball Reset Unit resets to '1' when you press the start button and then moves to '2' when it shoots out the ball. I can see it moving through the sequence OK as the game progresses and then to 'Game Over'.
I assume that when you push the button the unit should go to a zero setting but I can't seem to find one. Any ideas??
