Saturday night during pin party - WH20 started smoking, literally, opened it up and found the cap at C11 on power board bubbling and smoking away.

Replaced cap today - just assuming the other had died a natural death. Switched on machine, within a minute the replacement blew its top and gushed out smoke :fear:

Right so quick bit of research led me to measure voltage at TP7, the 20V test point for the flash lamp circuit, .....measuring 35V . Hmmm ...not good. Removing connectors J106 and J107 and retesting it is at 21v. So am thinking it is a short somewhere on at a flasher on playfield ????

Lift playfield and have a look at any flashers, cant see anything obvious.

Drop playfield, switch on , TP7 now measuring a steady 21V . So did lifting the pf just move something ???

I measure at TP7 again and whilst doing so the machine suddenly powers off. Now wont boot. Coincidence ?? Or related?? :help: D19 LED stays lit, D20 not blinking, D21 lit.

I'm tired today and before investigating any further .....any thoughts experts ?

EDIT - Just tried CPU board in FT. Not booting in there either so def issue on it. It was a board salvaged from a box of junk BR parts, but had been working fine for last few weeks. Just wondering is this coincidence ??

OK - just had Andy The Legend round. All sorted  Lesson learnt - if you add some extra led flashers, make sure they are safely secured and can't find their way into contact with a switch , sending a sh*tload of voltage thru the cpu board. Whoops.

Thats not a good thing...!!! Did it survive, allbeit with a few "manual adjustments" i.e. components replaced, or has it gone to the great CPU god in the sky???
