Whirlwind Side Ramp Shot - A Fix ?

Testing my games ahead of the league visit in Feb.

I know this is a tricky shot. But even when hit perfectly cleanly (clean into ramp, ball running smoothly down the flipper) my game misses an awful lot of these. And this makes a vast difference to your score: the Millions shot, quick multiball jackpot, main jackpot shot, relighting the shelter .

Is there a fix please ?

I know that a more powerful coil is the work of Satan- but has anyone tried it ?

Is the spinner the issue here ? As the ball rolls past the spinner onto the upper flipper some times it deviates the ball ? It definitely lets the ball fall at different speeds.

Do you bend the metalwork lane guide behind the upper flipper so the flipper can "open" marginally more ?

Do you adjust the flipper so that the solenoid never fully retracts ?

Any suggestions gratefully received

Pic of the flipper ? Alignment makes a huge difference in upper flipper shots.

Also when was it last rebuilt? Any wear in the plunger and link will cause less power.

Is it moving freely?

Check end of stroke switch to ensure you're getting a decent amount of power before the hold winding kicks in.

Thanks. I rebuilt it a few years back but the game gets little use. I put the later Addams Family era teturn spring on at the time.

Cleaned eos, regapped it to get more power. Opened the flipper angle a bit too.

Not sure which did it but something has made a marked improvement.

There's a lot of variance in flipper mechs. So many contributing parts or adjustments easily overlooked.

Especially when you have fussy shots in a game. I spent weeks trying to get decent spins on Claire's Diner cup, a lot of it was flipper related.

Yes I'm obsessed 😄

Make sure the ball runs along the bat. It needs to tight against it or it'll lose power. Put a new end stop on it to give it max snap and then maybe increase the flipper coil but be ready for a broken ramp and airballs
