When to pull the trigger?

Hi all,
I’m finding myself in an awkward position and caught in indecision.

All these, great new titles being released has got me in a spin.
Sooo close to ordering a PF but as my level headed better half pointed out, it’s a STh that I’ve craved for best part of a year.

I’ve heard rumours that they’ll do another run. This makes sense as season 5 is due next year and including seasons 3,4 and 5 would give stern a wealth of additional content to work their magic on.

However I’ve heard and read equal amounts of “ never gonna happen” info too.

I know I could always sell /trade a PF in future to get a STh but I’m a sod for getting attached to pins and arcade cabs for that matter.

Do others get stuck in the loop of waiting for there dream themed pin and end up waiting in vain?
 
Stranger Things will pop up now and again in the second hand market as people want the newer games being released.

I guess the same will happen with Pulp Fiction eventually. Also remember, PF is a year away yet.

Put an ad up for a Stranger Things?
 
I kinda know right away what I want (mostly)
Only pin I did a U-turn when almost pulling the trigger was Aerosmith Premium.

If you go for PF, I reckon you won’t see that for maybe a year. That will push STh further away time wise.
By then, something else will catch your eye.

True, but rerelease a pin 3 seasons and 5/6 years out of date?
or would they re design with new inserts and possibly design ie whole new game.

However much I want it to happen I just can’t see it, really hope I’m wrong

Did you get a Pulp Fiction LE because you couldn't get a Godfather CE, or would you have bought both if you could?

I would, but NIB STh is a thought that won’t go away. 😂
And in all likelihood it would be my one and only NIB.

I read loads of comments about BTTF.
That seems a title with so much potential it must happen but probably never will.

I could imagine that would be a big (too big I'd guess) IP headache, apart from artwork redesign/new feature coding. Has it happened before with other (recent-ish) pins? I guess you need precedence to have any sort of confidence that it would happen.

Yes mate.
I jumped on PF LE after visiting CGC site and reading up after the reveal.
I sincerely think it will be a classic.
Can only really afford that, but time wise it’s a fair bit away.
If someone UK were to have second thoughts on their GF CE, I’d probably go for it, would need to sell something though to make room.
I think both are great - not that I’ve played them but I have a feeling..lol
 
No point waiting for something that may never happen. If something you fancy catches your eye then go for it, you can always sell it later on.

Ideally you want to try everything first before you buy but that is not always easy or possible. I've always relied on reviews, videos and Podcasts for my Pin purchases.
 
So many things can happen over a year. Retirement, new job, house move, new child, death (😢).

Why wait for a perfect thing that may never happen. Say you buy a good secondhand ST now and they do a rerun. Buy the NIB if it comes out and play the other version until it finally lands in The UK. Then sell your original and maybe take a grand hit on it.
Over 2 years what’s a grand? £40 a month. Worth it for the fun.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had major regrets about anything I’ve bought or done. Had plenty about not buying or doing things.
 
I think was George Gomez that said 'yes, expect a run next year'. Pro's and Premiums. Honestly just wait it out. I let mine go (stupidly) and its one of a few I actually really miss.

The pricing next year no doubt will continue to go up thats the only issue. My advice? Ask Phil @ PBH to put you on a wait list for whatever edition you want.

I can't see them re-designing the game. They sold Walking Dead and Game of Thrones when it was way out of date. Same with Mando, its out of date now also.
 
other thing to consider is that Pulp Fiction is at least a year away, possibly longer.

I’ve asked Phil,and unfortunately he said the last he heard from Stern was that they are not.
And so he is not doing a list.

This is the main source of my pessimism!😔

I think Phil is right to be skeptical - its not the first time they have said they will do another run and its not happened and give they have more demand in the games they are making its surprising to hear the remake of STH. why remake a game that sold like a turd when you have prime rib steaks from elwin to make.
 
I doubt we will see a st re run the premium was discontinued very quickly it certainly won’t be any different you are not going to see any season 3 onward stuff in it
But we may see another stranger things inc later season s if stern have a good relationship with Netflix
I wouldn’t rush into anything stern production is back in full swing so you can probably get any game in production easily nib
Cgc stuff you are going to have a lengthy wait I would think maybe up to 2 years

This is the bit that interests me.
Massive worldwide smash hit show, entering it final season with two previously untouched seasons.

Massive opportunity, a vault maybe?
 
Nothing is certain in pinball…

But 100% Stern aren’t redesigning or making a vault edition of a current machine

Put a wanted advert out for a HUO machine and pull the trigger!

I’m not a fan of the game it’s just a reskinned AFM in my eyes, had massive potential for a theme but was massively let down!
 
One of the most gorgeous games out there especially when it goes all UV but I got bored playing it :(

It was the game play that made me first take notice and only afterwards watching the series that heightened it.

I’m definitely more theme oriented with the pins I go for though.

I imagine in a darkened room it’s quite the experience.
As I imagine Alien to be also.
 
My take on all of this
1st off I own a STh it’s much like AFM on steroids with deeper code and more atmospheric.
It can be played now, it’s tried and tested with great code so if you can get one now just do it.

forget about them being put back on the line as no one knows for sure if this will actually happen and if it does it will be probably as long a wait as PF anyway.
CGC have sold 1000 CCrs and have not produced half of those yet with my mate now 15mth and counting for his. So unless PF is going on another line or being built by anothe subsidiary then I guesstimate 2yr.
This is why I went TNA2.0 it’s tried and tested and more importantly here now.
I’m hoping someone jumps ship on PF
When Jaws, BTTF, Venom and many more drop 😝
Either way when all these new pins hit our shores you will have an attractive option with STh to trade once they get bored of them.

Lots of good advice already 👍🏻

I've been in a similar situation to you, so thought I'd give my 2p.
Firstly, don't wait around for your dream game** ; enjoy playing/owning another game/other games.
I've been waiting about 2 years now for my dream game to come up for sale/trade and no dice ** in the mean time I've got to enjoy I think 5 different games at home now (only have space/cash for one at a time - current lodger Hallowen CE), which wouldn't have happened if I'd just waited around.
I'll admit, I went though times where I'd get a little stressed thinking I'd be gutted if my dream pin came up and I couldn't jump on it fast because I'd have to shift my current game , but that's still better than having no machine for an indeterminate time (or waiting a year+ for a new release)
As others have said, defo play whatever you buy first to make sure you like it (STh is great with thr UV Kit - would like one myself) - if you get something, you could always move it on when PF comes out, or if a STh vault happens)

**must include a caveat here:) my dream game is of the premium/LE variety. As my first pin I bought a PRO ver. of that game which came up and loved it, but sod's law a Premium at a steal price came up about a month after I'd bought it, then I missed out on I think a further 1 or 2 I think during the subsequent year (and 2 LE's, but that's a bit irrelevant- no money for an LE at thr time as wedding/honeymoon to pay for) - now none come up 🤷🏼 - tried putting out various wanted adds (but like STh there's a rumour of a vault/remake)

I'd still recommend (a) put a wanted ad up for a STh, then if no luck (b) enjoy some other games while you wait for a STh or PF (or something else yet to be announced!...)
As long as you get something decent, you can usually move it on fairly quickly if you need to.

Just because its posted online - does not make it true.

Are they saying that a new series is coming out in 2024? Or a new line? That is two ways that post can be read.

Stern have not updated games by changing inserts etc. They want to get it out the easiest way possible IF they do it.

Looking what is on the line now, Foos looks like it is going to be very popular - as does Godzilla too.

Yet again - put a WANTED advertisement up.
