Hi
I currently have a Big Labowski pinball which I am very happy with. This was my first table following 6 months of research eventually pipping Elton John and Elvira.

I am now looking for a second table which owing to space restrictions in my games room will be the last one I can have unless I trade which won't happen on the TBL.

What do I go for next ? It will be a new machine aiming to purchase in the spring. I am no professional player but I can hold my own. I know the subject is subjective but interested to know what like minded players think. Looking for a game that will keep me interested and has longevity that's a challenge.

I have played Elton John, Cactus Canyon and Elvira but I do prefer JJP, Chicago Gaming and Dutch Pinball machines over Stern ( Elvira as an exception) I would love to play Monster Bash, Medieval Madness and Attack from Mars but know these are like hens teeth to find. I know enough to be dangerous on pinball maintenance hence new machine or quality reconditioned with warranty preferred.

As you say it's near impossible for others to advise what you will like. I'd suggest trying as many as you can if possible, or watching videos and reading reviews, that's what I do.

If you go 2nd hand you'll lose less, maybe nothing at all, if you get something and don't like it.

I’m not sure longevity is realistic in a 2 pin collection, even the best games can get too familiar & stale over time. Buy used with the intention to enjoy for several months and then swap out for another. This keeps the hobby fresh for you & there’s no need to try and get it absolutely right, you can buy - enjoy - sell - repeat 👍

What an excellent first choice machine to choose, the TBL. The downside is if you go the Stern route next, it may feel cheaply built.

Take your time on choosing your next machine, as if you don't like it so much, it may be difficult to sell in this current market.

Play as much as you can at events locations etc, don't rush into it.

I'm a newbie, own two machines and play not as much as I should. Logenveity in machines may get stale for with a limited collection, all depends what you want. Actually I would think it all depends on how much you have others around playing the machines also.

These 3 are no doubt classics, and granted I've only really had extensive play on virtual versions of them, but they don't have longevity for me, tired of them quite quickly.

Now where did I put my flame suit...🔥

Agree 100%. They were the best games of their day. The love for them is mostly nostalgia.

They are quite shallow and anybody half decent will bore of them soon. Of the 3 MM probably has the most depth to it, you have to really target Barnyard MB to get to it.

Pretty much all Stern DMD, and definitely all Stern LCD have much more longevity

I would not ask what to buy, there are so many great games that have been produced over the last 10 years. I would be asking what games to avoid.

I only have Sterns and had Godzilla on its own for 18 months and eventually I did get bored, I now have 3 machines but intend to rotate one on a regular basis so as others have said it might be worth getting one you can just to rotate as and when you get bored.

As TBL only just pipped Elton, I am surprised you arent just getting one of those, its hopefully the machine I will be getting next although I am only interested in a second hand one.

I was going to say...

We have an Elton PE and it's a great choice, especially if you like the Monster Bash/MM/AFM-style of pins.

I recommend GTF, im currently finalising the code with the coder. I find the game thrilling, silly and great for light and sound. its not easy either

Thanks for the feedback. Elton is the favourite so far but would like to play other tables like Avatar, Guns and Roses and the new Dutch Pinball Alice. I might follow you and try and make room for a third machine as a swapper. Just don't want to fork out £12k on a machine that I regret
