In Progress Gottlieb Spin Out

Bit of a general update on this thread and a change of plan :D After making it to Pinfest last year and then smoking out the main room on the Saturday when a pop bumper coil locked on, this has been tombstoned at my Dads ever since. The opportunity to pick up a nice Spin Out backglass has presented itself and having had a closer look at the playfield on the rusty one (which should clean up pretty well) I've decided to not re-theme it and instead make a nice Spin Out

The Castlevania re-theme will still happen but I'll need to find a new candidate game (got some ideas) and I'll change the title of this thread to a Spin Out shop log instead. Spent a bit of time this evening removing very rusty parts from swamp Spin Out which I'll keep for spares as I have 3 Gottlieb EM's now. Want to get this down to just the playfield and then I'll see what I can do in terms of re-furbishing it.

As I recollect from owning one, aren't both bumpers pulsed by the same relay? It's not as if they're particularly close together. I think Buckaroo, which I see this game as simplifying, has the same; the centre bumper has its own relay, and the outer ones share.

Finished stripping the playfield and it looks promising although I did find quite a lot of remnants from a previous playfield glass

Gave it a quick hoover and then took a couple of pics so I can keep track of how much this can be cleaned up and improved. The first pic below is just hoovered off and the second is after one pass of the foam cleaner.

I think the time this game spent in the swamp being unplayed might have done the playfield a big favour (the metal work not so much) I did a light first pass with the magic eraser and it's already looking loads better :D These first two pics show a before and after of one of the light blue areas:

And here's some overall pics with the first pass completed:

Gone as far as I can with the magic eraser cleaning so it's time to break out the paints :thumbs:I also need to level the inserts so got some clear and pipettes ordered.

Done a first lot of touch ups on the black keylines round the inserts and the first lot of clear is on to start levelling them out. Had a few issues with paint bleed so had to wipe a few off and will tackle that tomorrow.
