Skip to step 4.6.8. This is THE most probable cause in my experience. If you follow the wiki as suggested then you'll need to remove the board to examine the solder joints suggested. Then it will be impossible to effectively carry out the measurements suggested in 4.6.8. And you'll miss the root cause.
Followed the Wiki, took measurements between TP2 and pin 32 of the game ROM, and sure enough there was a .1v difference. Followed the guide's instructions to check the cable between the main board and the power board and found a connector with all sorts of gunk in it. Cleaned that up... no more game resets since.
