So. Maybe some of you remember some time ago I bought myself a A13 from the king of Gifs. At the same time @Dave Bishop sold me his TAFG cab with loads of beautiful extras. Well its been sat unwanted for too long so I've put EWF on the back burner to concentrate on this.

So first things first. Rearrange the cave to get to it so I can work on it.

Cut necessary holes so DMD monitor can fit.

Make new speaker panel and spray with what I have lying around.
Bought new 40" 3D TV for a song. Thought about removing bezel but routering of cabin minimally better option me thinks.

Cut necessary lengths of ply for support of said TV.

Now, question is? Do I leave the TV flush or recess from the glass????

Surley others of you with VR can recomnend before I fill in the shadow gap that some joiners would say but others would say was a FU!!!

Agreed. Should go where the playfield would go

Also, curious why you mounted the monitor in the backbox so that it dips below. Couldn't it have gone so that it sticks above the speaker panel? Pretty sure that's how most color DMD style installations go. Bit late now i guess, but seems a shame to cut up the cab if not necessary.

Thanks @carl & @Wizcat. 2 days off from work so should be able to really crack on with this. Recess for depth it is and the reason for sub mounting the monitor was to give me additional room in the back box if needed as haven't got 28" back screen yet. Can always tweek later if needs be.

I'd have the screen as tight to the front of the cab/lock down bar and then angle it down towards the back.

Have your gap at the back of cab not the front!

Problem there is the digital launcher will be in the way.

Ive been thinking about this for a while myself, i thought of putting an apron in but cut the uprights off the sides so it would sit over the screen, hiding the screen picture of the apron. other option was to mount the plunger lower and put a button above for games without manual plungers

Maybe an inbetween would be to have the screen like tykes picture but slide it forward into the cabinet a bit, although i think i would want my screen slanting the other way, more like a playfield..

im assuming that screen is level with the ground?

Also @tyke does that screen position not get in the way of the flipper buttons ?

I've slanted mine the same as a play field. Don't really want to move the plunger from its original position. Think I'll leave it for the time being. Can always move it if not happy. Will make an apron of sort's

I'll take that back, after using some crude packers, installed the plunger, pulled playfield screen forwards and It fits ok.images.tapatalk_cdn.com_15_10_01_edd278b332dc4a4bc1acee9c5c0397d1.jpg
Yes, I've a 190 mm gap between lock down bar and screen but I think that's better?

Don't the virtual pinball tables already show a virtual apron on the screen? Might look a bit odd to have two aprons?

Edit: Ah.. you've brought it forward. Yes. Much better :)

Looking better, you could route out the sides above the flipper buttons and get it even closer, have it flush to the glass at the front and laying back down to the angle you have at the back.

Actually I see you haven't routed the side so the tv must fit snug. Can you get it any closer to the lock down bar? Trust me it will look so much better ;)

I have mate. It's the length of the digi plunger that's the prob. Will take a bit more out above the buttons and take the back off tomoz. Getting cold now[emoji36]

So I have partially done what @tyke said and routered just above the buttons.

And in my wisdom, turn the TV round as one edge is deeper than the other due to the speakers being at the bottom. Hey presto, digi plunger now fits with clearance, and no need to take the back of the TV off which I really didn't want to do

@tyke was right. I'm glad I did it. You know, its amazing what you can do when you have a couple of days off especially with this weather and alone without someone saying " can we just go to the garden centre for this, and go there for that" when you've already planned you day!!images.tapatalk_cdn.com_15_10_02_2c5c19c82689ae675d0591f8f30bd43b.jpgimages.tapatalk_cdn.com_15_10_02_0ff0d1edcafa4340276fcc7b81af60fd.jpgimages.tapatalk_cdn.com_15_10_02_43f537724f2f6099fb05b7ae57cdffe6.jpgimages.tapatalk_cdn.com_15_10_02_1619d5c25d47853382deeeb11c90e605.jpgimages.tapatalk_cdn.com_15_10_02_ab550f7ed67c23683d02dceb2ac8a869.jpg
