Any UK owners of an ultravp from recroomworld here? What do you think of it and have you tried the super vpin drive?

I don't know whats on this drive but all the best tables are free. I use vpin studio to manage my vpin. I bought a 2nd hand fully loaded pinball machine from pinballia and upgraded the computer hardware inside in to a beast and brought all the software up to date, even got stuff like the kinect working with it for passive 3D.

Adding new tables is as easy as downloading them from somewhere like vpuniverse.com on your pc and drag and dropping them into vpin studio to upload them to the vpin, you can do all your configuration in there too.

You'll need to open the table and adjust the camera to best suit your specific vpin anyway.

Never owned a recroomworld but I did almost buy a 2nd hand one. They look decent. The only part I'm envious of is that they use actual lockdown bars and you can lift the screen like a playfield otherwise the machines pretty much have feature parity.

Its too much IMO to spend on a vpin though.

You don't need 100s or 1000s of tables IMO. My machine came with over 1000 I barely touch and Ive set up maybe 50 tables to play excellent and will rotate between less than 10 at any time.

Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you. I'd like 50-100 quality tables.

I bought the ultravp recently (pretty sure it's the one you initially went for last year). The machine is excellent physically but the software side is buggy and needs updating.

Oh nice I hope you got it for a good price. Seller was acting too shady for me (had dropped part of it but only told me after I committed to buy, previously stating no damage). Glad it went well.

Ive been through hell and back with mine software wise. Especially going from Windows 10 to 11 (was necessary to greatly improve performance due to one of my screens having different refresh rate).

Make an off machine back up as the first thing you do. Do not make the mistake of using Windows own backup image creator, I learned the hard way that no longer is reliable (hadnt used a windows machine for years prior, despite being a software engineer).

The hardest part was getting pinup popper brought forwards enough. The update guide for that is outdated, the links to the patches no longer work.

Took me a bit but I got it all up to bleeding edge with many a panic on the way.

I can see the temptation if someone has an up to date environment for your specific cabinet.

Ultimately doing that myself has made me feel better equipped to maintain the machine but even as someone whose comfortable digging themselves out of holes with computers I've had some sweaty moments.

Yeah, I've read through your posts. My current thoughts are to clone the existing drive. Play around to my hearts content to learn the software and get specific tables and viewpoints the way I like them but, in the background, order the drive too as apparently the guy specialises in the recroomworld vpin and can no doubt get better use out of the components than I can. Hopefully the experience will be equally as enjoyable as it is frustrating. I got it for a good price so will treat myself further.

Nice yeah hope its compatible with the ultra vp 7.5 which is what I believe you have? Sounds like a better base to work with if so.

If you need any help otherwise shout I believe they have a similar setup otherwise.
