Now maybe I'm loosing my mind but I'm sure up until this week.If the powerball is in the trough when it gets ejected it normally goes into powerball mode ie says POWERBALL on eject then does the whole "to hot to handle?, put it back" ect. Now it doesn't just acts as if it's a standard ball occasionally saying powerball if it gets fired out the lock or slot machine

Eddy sensor in trough need adjusting.

I've found that's not always the case - if the game has been switched off and is running home ROMs then the game can sometimes forget where the power ball is until a game or two has been played then and it has had the chance to figure out where the power ball is.

Both of the above in my experience.

The trough sensor may be slightly misaligned, on it's way out, or the cables a bit funny. I was lucky in that I only had to readjust the position relative to the ball, then checked it in test, and it's been fine since. I've read problems on Pinside where they had to do all sorts of cable twisting and fit new PCB's etc.

I've also had it not recognise the powerball but only when switched on with the PB 1st out of the trough. This may have been the beginning of the issue above as it hasn't happened since.

running 9.4CH. I think it's switch 26.

I ended up soldering one end of that cable directly onto the eddy sensor board. Seemed to resolve the issues I was having.

Like Pete says, it can be glitchy. But there are two eddy sensors, so if the trough one glitches out the subway one usually detects it and the software is smart enough to keep track of it after that.

Well just had a fiddle the sensor works when a metal ball or screw driver is in front of it but not the power ball or a finger. The top switch the one before the one with the hook thing isn't working either :0(

That is correct operation. Detects only metal. If the led sticks on, then it is permanently seeing a metal ball, but this can be due to high resistance in the connectors.

Fixed it was caused by the trough switch at the top not working. The wire had come off the side tab re soldered and now works

Geneva switch on the gumball machine even tho it works fine when ever the machine is turned on you get a test report saying Geneva switch. It's a common tz error and rather annoying

Had the problem with Geneva switch with mine, same thing it got on my nerves so I stripped it down and messed about and replaced a few thing including the switch itself and after rebuilding it cleared it and no more Geneva switch error.

Well I replaced it and it's cleared the error but now I can't find the tiny back plate for the switch ffs lol does anyone have a spare knocking about?

Well I found the back plate in the end now the Geneva error has gone. After re flowing and re punching down the cables in the connector I decided to remove the door light board yet again and do some more testing to sort out the one iffy light. So I thought I'd start with the obvious and check the diode for the problem light. On the board it was reading over 900 when the others where 530-31. So I took it out tested it again and it read 526-8 the new one was 530-31 so I thought I'd give it a try and that's sorted it. I like the easy fixes

Sighs well now it's developed another gumball related fault. The game works fine untill you get a ball in the gumball machine then afterwards it will eject a ball into play. Which then confuses the machine and the trough starts ejecting 2 balls into the shooter lane. Sometimes it sorts it's self out and reloads the gumball machine b4 the next ball other times not until it's been turned off and on. Any ideas experts?

Sounds like an opto issue to me.

Go into switch test and try them all out by rolling a ball past them. You can also do that camera trick to see if the optos are working or not on the trough. Just undo the transmitter board closest to you and have a look at the optos through the screen on a smartphone to check if the IR light they emit are all on.

Jeez Rudi , more issues.... Is yr house built on an Indian burial ground or something :)

Seriously though. As Russ said I would start with checking ALL switches at that trough and gumball for correct operation. Another thing, you haven't by any chance put 1 ball too many in the game?

I think it's all to do with that bloody Geneva switch which I thought I had solved because the error on startup has gone after I replaced it. I expect it got rid of that error and caused another bloody one. Same amount of balls as allways been

Check what's happening using the switch matrix. You've probably got a switch stuck on somewhere which is confusing the game. Geneva switch is a bit of a red herring as the game can normally figure out where the ball is without Geneva.

Yup it's been fine until I changed the Geneva but did have a wire off one of the trough switches the other week so could be another gonna check her over in abit

Good luck Dude. I've got a sledgehammer you can borrow if it all becomes too much.

Well I dunno what's going on can't find a switch that's not working. Thought I'd solved the prob due to the Geneva switch arm being outside the lug in the white wheel.

I am right in thinking the arm should be on the inside of the white lug on the wheel? In gumball test it's completely lifeless just comes up with Geneva error won't even eject a ball
