i personally don’t use twitter, i’m too old to “get it” have tried but it does my nut in😂😂

Musk has made some risky moves in the past, but I can’t see what his plan is here? It’s likely a bunch of ex employees will just go off and create “chatter” or whatever. $44Bn and he seems to be wrecking his investment?

I know he’s a very clever chap. but I can’t see the end game here?

What am I not seeing?
 
There are already loads of other 'twitters', GeTTR and Truth Social for example but Twitter was the first successful platform and will stay at top.

Musk is a disruptor so probably just doing it for fun. Once he gets rid of the 'useless' staff, he'll monetize and become richer.

 
If all social media sits somewhere on a spectrum of toxic, mental-health-issue inducing, dross, then Twitter sits at the love-child-of-the-Fukushima-and-Chernobyl-nuclear-disasters end of the spectrum. It truly is a cesspool of hate.

Musk seems intent on bankrupting it, which is probably the kind of euthanising it needs tbh :thumbs:

Its ok, for the majority of those who worked their natural selection will happen and they will get used to asking folk if they want to ‘go large”

He's portrayed as clever, but in reality, he's a just very rich chap with a very large ego he likes massaged and the ability to bully people.

Directly sacking or causing what appears to be up to 3/4 of your staff to quit and leaving what looks to be large chucks of core infra essentially unsupported is not the move of a clever man.
They had to ask the staff who managed the ID systems to come back, after firing them, as no-one could get in the buildings, but that's small fry in terms of the platform as a whole

Don't use it, or any social media platforms myself - PinballInfo the closest I get to social media :D

It is the move of a clever man if it's by design.

He'll make it into a much more video orientated platform, monetize it and share revenue with creators.

He's said as much and why wouldn't he? Twitter is a social media platform but in terms of revenue generation it's lagging so far behind YouTube (and to a smaller degree Facebook) who incentivise uploads and therefore create more content with advertising space on it.

Basically individuals can't make money from Twitter and he's about to change that then take a slice.

Don’t use twitter, never have
But from watching a couple of podcasts, one of his aims, is to stamp out the woke nonsense, and propaganda of certain narratives. Scale back on the idiotic censorship, and encourage free speech.
And for that I applaud him
 
I don't use Twitter even though it's pretty much mandatory in my line of business. It's a hell hole of self righteousness. It turns my stomach. I can just about deal with Facebook but Twitter is ****ing ******** **** ****
 
I thought initially 44Bn was eye wateringly expensive, but when you look at facebook's value, it' just a drop in the ocean !

I also have to use it for work and it's a snake pit. It's an awful place.

Twitter have spent the last two years clamping down on a few offensive words whilst allowing bullying and aggressive trolling to flourish. It's a totally unpleasant environment where people behave in a way they'd never dream of in real life.

I can't claim to know anything other than the basics about Musk but he can't make Twitter any worse it's because it's broken anyway.
