The early WPC pins seem to have such a varied kickout action from the trough.

My TZ seems to very gentley tease the ball out and it almost makes a creeking noise as it does so. Works 100% and never hits the shooter lane wall plate.

This shabby FH I've picked up powers the ball out and 50% of the time it bounces back into the trough or gets stuck as the other balls have already rolled down into position 1.

I've got other pins of similar era behave the same quite often.

Is this a software thing that improved/softened the kickout power or something on the eject assy that wears or gets stiff over time?

Coil is 27-1200 so looks correct.

Any thoughts?

Wear and adjustments all make a big difference.

End stops get worn so the plunger may go deeper or not deep enough if it's broken off. The you have the ball guides that can get battered out of shape from the action of the ball being ejected, two of concern - one at the top of the trough towards the playfield that can get bent upwards. I find when bent out of shape these tend to propel the ball in to the side wall shooter lane plate. The other is above the trough towards the apron, hit too many times it bends upwards giving a very feeble eject in to the shooter lane.

The angle of the coil holding bracket can also have an effect as that alters the distance the eject plunger travels but it's not as critical as the ball guides. Oh and dirt can also play a part giving slow/feeble feeds as well.

If you look where the ball exits the trough you'll see an angled ball guide. You can bend that slightly to adjust the kickout. I had the same issue on Fishy and that fixed it👍

This sounds exactly what I have on my TAF , I have a split under a screw on the trough see pic ….
A quick fix for me was fit a washer under the screw image.jpgplays perfectly now 😉

That's the bit I was referring to. It gets knocked out of shape over years and needs a little fettling😁
