The OFFICIAL LICENSED 'moans about pricing' thread

Stranger Things was really innovative with the projector and UV.

They don't seem to be doing that sort of thing now.

I did think Kong smashing the train was good though. I still think that's a decent game even if the code isn't the easiest to grasp for people like me.

I don't know what games Stern have in the pipeline but all of the other exciting rumoured themes are with different companies I believe (BTTF, Matrix, Goonies, Gremlins).

Yeah, I agree on Stranger Things, that was fresh and innovating.

Honestly none of the rumoured Stern titles interest me in the slightest, another Transformers, Pokémon, ACDC remake is ok I guess but its mostly stuff we have seen before.

Innovation isn't Sterns strong suit, good point above about stranger things, that was quite innovative, but normally its the smaller companies forcing Sterns hand, less than 10 years ago they were still using single colour DMD's for instance.

I get the need to save on shipping, but these new cabs are just ugly, saw this video posted on another community, flat packed V-pin cab, assembled by the end user with integrated fixings, routered angles that fit together more like traditional construction, looks way better than Sterns!

I guess just adding large square wide piece of wood to trolly jack table surface would solve the issue? Spread the load over the cabinet sides not on the bottom piece?

The UV feature in Stranger Things was so innovative that you had to pay extra for it as an add-on 🤣

I saw in the what's it worth post something about Stern NIB prices. I've managed to totally miss this - what's gone on, have Stern prices come down recently? And what about other NIB manufacturers - did come down in price too?

When Pokémon released, Stern published GBP RRPs. Some back and forth between the UK consumer distros and Electrocoin and we now have new, lower RRPs for NIB Sterns.

Other manufacturers not involved

Its only Stern prices that have come down recently as its only Stern as far as Im aware that have suffered from the Electrocoin tax, where they are the only official importer for Stern in the UK but only sell to retailers so it adds another middle man profit to the UK prices.

They still dont sell Pokemon for the UK RRP that Stern published but its a lot closer than what it was originally going to be.

Nobody moaning about prices much these days. So many great pins around for sale, good to see.
No - the moaning has switched to how much you gonna ‘lose’ on resale 🤔😃 Which is fair enough concern when for 20 years folk have been used to the price / value of most rising steadily - then wildly in recent times .
One big side effect of that is it maybe stops a casual purchase of a title just to check a game out . In the past you could always quickly move it on and at worse prob for what you paid - in effect making it a cheap hobby. That certainty ,at least at the moment , is gone.

The times they are a changin as ole Bobby Dylan whined

Regardless of how much money we have lost it’s all good for the future in the hobby and hopefully get things moving again and our juices flowing.
Let’s face it the good old Cargument is a perfect example of what real depreciation is all about.

I’ll kick this one off with my lovely EV6
