TAF swamp sound issues - again!

Sorry to drag this one up again but it is doing my head in. I posted a while ago that when you launch a ball and it drops in the swamp from the shooter I don't get the sound quotes. While playing the other night they suddenly worked, game after game. Turned it on next day and nothing again since. I now know the roms are good but what else can it be? Every other sound is working as it should, I get the bong when I turn it on so I assume the sound board checks out, all swamp switches work as they should so what could it be?

I haven't read the other thread so apologies if you've tried this but I reckon it'll be a ribbon connector. Try reseating them, especially the ones on the sound board. It sounds a likely cause if the fault is intermittent

Try reflowing the solder to the ribbon connector header pins.... both ends...

Cheers guys, I will borrow the ribbon cable from one of my other machines to see if it cures it.

It's not the ribbon, or at least not the one which links from the sound board. Is it worth swapping the others?

Try swapping out the sound board from another machine.
