Hi all,

I need a couple of back box bolts for my TAF - It's the two securing bolts that go inside the bottom of the back box to secure it to the table.

Anyone know where I can get these wing bolts from?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

They're usually missing when you buy a second hand machine, so most people make do with only one. I tend to just use the catch on the back of the backbox.

I used to be happy using just the catch, until one day it came undone and the backbox fell forwards whilst I was playing. Fortunately I managed to catch it before it hit the side rails. Never again.
I must say though that I have never seen a machine that has two in.

Pretty sure there are supposed to be two. Would someone mind posting a photo. I think I know where there go but not 100%

There are probably supposed to be two in there although I have never had any problems with just one.
They go through the big hole at the bottom of the inside of the backbox.

The openings in later Wpc backboxes are so large that the head of the wing-bolt only just covers them. I used to add a suitable large washer to each bolt.

Before the wing-bolt was introduced, the two holes were smaller - a couple of times I had to loosen the backbox on its hinges and re-align it to get the bolts in, then tighten the hinge bolts again. The change may have been made to eliminate the need for precise alignment on the production line.

It never fails to amaze me that a lot of sellers of pins fail to pass on the wing bolt(s) to the buyer. They must have been fitted in the game previously. :suspect:

The same goes for tilt bobs and manuals for the games.

Someone, somewhere must have a drawer full of these things. :hmm:

Like Andrew has already said one securing bolt is more than enough. And yes use a large washer with it as it also protects the wood around the hole.
Andy at Pinball Mania sells them and Phill at Pinball Heaven.

I only have the one installed, hole for the missing one on the right

amazing innit, some people remove the toppers to sell separately, others do it with manuals or coin mechs, the real sheisters do it with shaker motors.

Are people removing shaker's from Stern LE's? If so, that is a bit naughty, when they're factory fitted they should stay with the machine, one of the few advantages the LE has over the Premium. I would expect one in a second hand LE if I bought one. Fair enough removing it if you've bought and fitted one yourself though.

It's funny how you guys all have your bolts in the left hole as although I got my hands on two bolts I could only get one to go in the left side.
