So i picked up a nice condition SoF Jan 2024. Its a game that I discovered at Pinfest several years ago, and instantly fell in love with. After playing all the other games there, I always found myself gravitating back to SoF, so knew i had to pick one up at some point.
No matter how nice a machine is, there is always things that can be done to improve it, so replaced the always damaged upper right black ramp section with one of the clear modern remakes. It brings a lot more light to a very dark corner of the game. At the same time i replaced the yellowing plastics, and fitted a set of art blades that matched the stonework on the plastics. It really brightened things up making it look a lot newer

I replaced the 3 standard yellowing flipper bats with some new Williams logo bats, but that still left the upper small flipper bat looking a bit manky. It is a 2" flipper, but with a long shaft to go through the upper, and lower playfield. After doing a bit of googling i discovered the Stern world poker tour used a 2" white flipper with a long shaft ( it was slightly too long but nothing a quick slice with a cutting disc couldn't sort)
Its a slightly different shape to the original Williams, but it doesn't feel any different to play

The machine was looking, and playing great, but wanted something more from it.... Ive been up for a new project for a while, and had one of @myPinballs Stern IJ conversion/ re writes that i would tinker with.
I had seen that Jim had made a new replacement controller of his own design for Williams machines, so got in touch to see if it would work on this machine.
This leads me to what I'm working on now. Ive installed one of Jims controllers with colour DMD display, fitted all new upgraded speakers, and custom DMD panel made up by Arcade Artshop.
With plenty of help from Jim Ive started work on my own custom game which i will be working on going forwards. It isn't going to be a quick process, but ill be posting up more as i work on it.
For now i will just post this photo to whet everyones appetite
