Swavesey 2023

Cheers @Pinballsurgery for putting on such a great event. Really enjoyed the weekend and great to have something nearby! Wise is now a massive TNA fan (after playing it solidly Saturday night) @Fubar and saying I should get one of them haha.

Cheers everyone. Looking forward to seeing friendly faces again at pinfest.

Was another nice and chilled weekend playing pinball with friends, and raising a few quid for charity.

Thanks to Mark for putting it on once again - Martin for running the comp, as well as all of the staff at The White Horse who dealt with everything with a smile on their faces and everyone who donated to the raffle (I'm going to be eating cereal bars for weeks).

Nice to see my lightblades, flipper cooling units and bolt carriers were chosen fairly early in the raffle - (anyone who wants any knows how to contact me;)) Plus everyone could see that Godzilla was immaculate.

Another great Swavesey weekend! Loved Road Kings, Radical and Future World.

It was great to see Locomotion enjoyed and holding up to a weekend of pounding. It even got rolled twice for the first time. I thought my new flipper alignment made the game harder 🙈

Attached a few photos.

Thanks Mark, the pub team, all who brought machines and donated - hope we raised a good amount. Managed to get enough cereal bars for my underground bunker to last us through the nuclear apocolypse. Surpsie of the week-end was an actual barbecue (Mark always puts about the barbecue in emails and even though I've been to almost every Swavesey, I'd never seen one happen until yesterday)

Me and Vickie had a great time, thanks Mark for running a lovely show and to all the people who attended and helped.
Vin asked if anyone had seen his ring ?

Haha, it must have been stolen Tony!

Brilliant weekend as always, thank you all the donators, organisers and staff, had a lot of fun and hopefully lots of money raised for charity, which is what it is all about.

Cheers!

Thanks to Mark for another great sociable and relaxed Swavesey weekend.

Also thanks to Diane who became Gary Flower for the weekend and did a sterling job with the tickets for the raffle.

And to all those who brought some great prizes for the raffle including enough cereal bars to open a shop!

Well done to Matt for yet another win; who will ever stop the Matternaut?!

Thanks to Mark, Diane and all the machine donators and raffle prize givers for another fantastic weekend. Hopefully all previous records for fundraising have been beaten despite the economic climate. I was pleased that Devil Riders got plenty of plays over the weekend without the ramp lifters misbehaving like last year.

Looking forward to see folks again at Pinfest!

Big thanks to everyone, great weekend - so many people asked if we can do it again so despite my wish to escape the damn thing I'll probably do it again next year.

HUGE shout out to all the folk involved from the humpers and movers, donators of prizes, chippers in to charity (some super generous folk this year), loaners of tables, raffle organisers, the thre key sponsors Pinball Heaven, Pinball Mania and Retro Arcade Pinball.

I'll get some proper thanks up on the site and the charity certificate once the online donations have percolated through, but the local cash tally was ~£1050 between the raffle and the tin and online should be in excess of £600 so a bumper result for UKPIP's our charity.

As far as I know the main failing this year was the chef throwing a sickie along with one of the serving staff leaving the meal coming out a bit slow and two steaks swapped between Phil and Vin, next year I'm going back to big bowls of salad and chips on the table - but if there are any (polite) improvement suggestions PM me as usual.

Here's a few piccies:

I'll update the website and announce the dates for next year (28-30th June) on the website here: https://sites.google.com/site/swaveseypinball/ when I have all the details sorted, in the meantime Martin is working on an article which will be better written than my efforts.

Great pictures, Mark, and huge thanks for all you do.

My report, along with the UK Pinball Cup results, is here:
https://www.pinballnews.com/site/2023/07/07/swavesey-pinball-weekend-2023/

Thanks to everyone for bringing games, donating to the charity, playing in the tournament and running, contributing to and supporting the raffle. Thanks to Greg too for his help with running the UK Pinball Cup.

Martin.

Final total for the weekend is now up on the site, drum roll please:

The proceeds of the raffle and everything we collected over the weekend came to a total of £1783.34 which was a fantastic show of generosity from those present and our friends who donated online. It also topped last years total which, in the current economic climate, is a glowing testament to the generosity of those who made donations.

I think that's taken us past £25K raised for charities over the years, down to all of you pinny folk 👍
