Decided my STTNG was too dirty and thought I'd strip it down or at least on the playfield side for a full clean down.
I've never done anything even close to this level of cleaning before, but it was a real improvement and not to mention learning curve.

In the end when I realised how tough a machine STTNG was, I went all in and cleaned bulb heads (which made a surprising improvement), inside lenses, outside lenses, every ramp, ramp cover, every figure and every wireform, even a slight tickle in the trough 😲
Oh and the glass got some niggly little well stuck marks removed with a stanly blade.

I would have replaced rubbers but they are very good condition, just needed a wipe down.

Backglass Lift Trim & Top Trim ordered new to replace splitting originals.

Couple of bulbs to replace and it's 100% again.

Knowing how much brighter dusty bulbs became, I am seriously tempted to follow up with cleaning inserts from below playfield too.

Unfortunately there is a rather poor modern decal on the right hand side of the backbox, it is too tall compared to the original and a different finish to it, looks like back box had a b grade refurb at some point.
The cabinet side art is perfectly acceptable with minor knocks only.

All in all I am very happy with the machine as drop holes barely have any wear and I think it's pretty much original.

The start, everything did eventually come off, just forgot to picture it as it was getting a little overwhelming at the time.

Had you cleaned the pin on the proper trajectory, you could now hit every shot... Oh my god it plays superb.

Great work.Iam jealous of your hole “neutral zone “is mint 😲
Yes it is a very good condition machine, last owner had it 15yrs so maybe didn't play it much. I wasn't so keen on it myself but now it's cleaned, every shot is so much easier and I'm loving it.

Taken it a step further tonight and gave the lower inner cabinet a French polish of sorts, it's now spotless inside with no debris or dust, the dust did smell a touch so hopefully the linseed oil will help and in any event, linseed oil is excellent on bare wood.

Back box lighting completed today and that's a wrap. Everything is clean and shiny and working. Plays excellent. So much so that I'm thinking I'll tackle LOTR for a full upper playfield strip down and polish.
