I am looking for a players machine preferably, with the exception of the playfield which should be in very good condition.

I can offer ...
STTNG: 4K
Others: 3K

I will up STTNG to £4250

Sorry for the long message, I cannot help myself :)

There’s one at Pinball Leisure that is going for £5495 including delivery and installation. It has been refurbished, and is in good condition and working order. Please take note that the machine has also been listed on their website for quite some time ... unsold.

I'm surprised that it's still for sale. It seems to me that STTNG might have reached a price ceiling. I am cautious as I don't want to overpay for a pinball in this volatile market. This will also be the case for other titles at some point, as they cannot go up forever.

I mention this ad to justify my "low", but fair offer. While other members might think that STTNG is worth the asking price, the data does not seem to support that perspective.

Cheers :)

Be careful with STTNG it can be a nightmare of a machine if it hasn't been restored maintained, having owned one 😏

I believe anything between 4k up to £5k possibly a touch more for a super one, colour screen, pinsound card is probably about right in the current market. From a dealer more, as they are a business with overheads.

I’d agree with @cmrl9. I haven’t owned one, but I enjoyed this pin at Pinball Republic and considered it before purchasing my Fish Tales.

From what I’d read (and seen under the playfield), it has a LOT of working parts, including optos, and is relatively harder to debug than many other pins if it goes wrong. Even if well maintained, my observation is they break down frequently - the one at Pinball Republic seems to be out-of-order more often than anything except the EMs, I’d say.

I’m not trying to put you off, as it is a great pin, but you need to be pretty confident doing maintenance. I also wouldn’t recommend it as a first or only pin (I don’t know your personal setup) as it can get pretty frustrating having your only pin out of action while waiting for parts.

From memory It has about 30 optos around 11 pairs not including all the opto in the trough. If any one has a problem or the canon wiring loom has any sort of issue the machine will behave in strange ways. From my experience to get the machine to have zero issues due to its age is to replace them all. This is time consuming and expensive. You can tell if any have been replaced as they won't be yellow😃

Just to back up what's being said here, I've got 6 STTNGs on my books (not including the one at Pinball Republic) and they've all been a nightmare at some point. The subway, cannons and optos are hell. Technically speaking it's an incredible machine but just know you will more than likely have an issue with it at some stage - and it's not always going to be obvious what the problem is. Worth knowing when being new to pinball ownership as issues can easily become overwhelming.

You guys are wimps 😂
I don’t think it’s ever took me more than 10 mins to fix any Sttng problem s yes lots of opto s that do cause some odd faults but once you have learned the game it’s pretty straight forward

This is my favourite enhancement that I have

I’ve had two STTNG‘s that I bought with issues, once you understand what things are supposed to do and how they work it’s pretty easy to fix.
It’s only switches or glorified switches (opto’s) that normally give you grief along with the cannon loom and diverter. Don’t be scared and get stuck in!

It has been refurbished

Refurbished but decided to not to replace at least 3 easy to reach bulbs that I could see straight away - left shield, left cannon and centre bonus. That tells me its got 30 year old rubber in the difficult to reach areas. I reckon it probably isn't as good as it looks in the photos.

I think you're right though. STTNG always feels a bit niche and that probably does limit the price no matter how good the game is.
