My sttng has developed a fault. It doesn't see any balls in the ball through. Also the switch 68 (shooter) in the same column (6) doesn't work. I'll keep working my way through the normal diagnosis but thought worth seeing if anyone knew a good place to start.

under the trough are two boards on either side, with opto transmitters and receivers. see if the boards are connected up properly and nothing has come loose when you lifted up the playfield one time. are the balls definitely in it? can you do a switch test and activate the trough switches by breaking the beam? can you see divots in the trough?

there's a few possible culprits but they're all easy enough to fix. give us details and we'll work through it.

oh hang on you said the whole column is out? check for a broken wire or a bad connection at the pin where the columns connect to the board.
or maybe the ULN2803 chip for that column has died?

That sorted thanks Dan. It was the ULN2803 which had been replaced and socketed before. I reseated it and all is good again :)
