Mixed reports on these though. I ended up pieing it off and not bothering but my shooter lane hadn't sustained any damage

What about some hard clear varnish to protect it?

Clean it with magic sponge with alcohol, to get rid of the dark marks, and then stick on a little strip of Mylar about 1cm long and 40mm wide along the ridge at the top of the channel on both sides
