Hi guys just recently joined (pity I did not join a week earlier or I would of picked up ianw bad cats as he lives in Devon) anyway just been made aware of a martin (thanks Nickbs ) that travels country delivering pinball machines for a reasonable price so i thought I would cast my eye wider.
I am just interested in a starter machine that fully works at the moment (just to make sure its not a passing fad with either myself or the grandkids who I pretend am buying it for ).
I would rather buy from here rather than ebay as I know I am ripe for being sold a pup as I know nothing about the mechanics of the machines
Is there anything about and if so do you know the mysterious 'Martin' that could help

martin isn't mysterious,he's a great bloke, but you may have to wait a while sometimes for pick up/drop off as he covers the whole country, and it does take time to get about.

If you find one fairly local you can likely pickup yourself with a decent sized hatchback - was a lot of talk in the popular thread about 'longest wasted journey to pickup a pinball' about what size cars they fit in which surprised me. Legs easy come off, and backbox either removes (with a bit of knowhow) or hinges flat.

Hi thanks for replies have you a tel number for Martin.
I have got a large estate car so if local I could pick up but don't fancy going too far.
Still looking though with cash at the ready

If you text him don't expect an immediate reply unless you are lucky. communication not his forté but i think he's been getting better lately.

Any mention of Martin and you will hear the same things.
He is a great guy to deal with.
He is very busy.
He is worth waiting for.

But waiting a month for that first machine will be painful.
Buy from a pinhead on here and if you can go collect they can help you. Pins are easy enough to set up but they are heavy to move.

Hi Mate the paragon is a bit too far away for me to pick up, what game have you got and what sort of price

Hi thanks for replies I must admit I do like the look of Matts, I presume its best to buy direct from here not ebay.
As mentioned above I would not want to wait a month for my first pin so will have to probably pick up. Will see what happens at auction end

Did you manage to get a pin? I was just thinking if you're down Plymouth way you're welcome to drop in and take a look at my "collection" such as it is.

I've never felt inclined to spend big money on this hobby, so my pins are pretty B-list, but I love them to bits plus my 3 machines are quite different from each other. If you really know nothing about these things that could be quite useful to you. You can try them out, open them up, and I can tell you how I've got on with them (two good stories one bad)

They're not for sale though!

There's always a cuppa during the day (I'm retired) or something a little more fizzy in the evenings. I'm 10 miles north of Plymouth.

Incidentally, I'm kicking myself for missing that Bad Cats too.

Bad cats must be the table of the future. Whoever bought it is now sat on a paper profit with numerous buyers hot to trot for a piece of the action. I think three were up for sale November time, including the one on this site.

Hi JWG thanks for the invitation I sometimes work at Derriford Hospital and would like to see your collection perhaps I could have your no and drop in at some point.

I think I may be a little closer to buying a machine but wondered which pins you guys think would be the best for grandkids aged 8 and 7 as looking at some of the sounds and graphics on some machines they could be a little scary.

Ians bad cats just seemed to fit the bill on three counts, close to home, right price and good subject matter

Bad Cats hasn't gone far, only going about 5 miles from me. Might come up again :)

Also welcome to drop in if in Kingsbridge area

Hi Ian will do, knowing me as soon as we have one I will want more (although it seems to be an addictive drug to most on this forum)

Hi JWG thanks for the invitation I sometimes work at Derriford Hospital and would like to see your collection perhaps I could have your no and drop in at some point.

I'm just 6 miles from the hospital, straight up the A386.

PM on its way.

Thanks to Matt Adams who met me half way down the south west corridor last night I am now the proud owner of his Fire machine and I could not be any happier.
Thank for all those who replied to my thread and pointed me in the right direction.
Also if this is one of the least desirable machines I will have a lot of pleasure collecting in the future.
Donation will be made to forum for the help I have received

As recommended by me in post #10! I fancied that myself it looks a really fun game. Enjoy.
