Hi folks - I was replacing some broken plastics and repairing parts on my Star Wars Trilogy pinball this week and when I've come to put it back together, something's not right.
When you turn the machine on, the DMD fires up, shows the Display BIOS revision, beeps 3-4 times then turns off. The volume is set to very high (it was set to very low last week). If you leave the game to idle it fires the same unusual tones after 10 seconds. Does anyone recognise the diagnostic tones?
It's normal startup would be DMD Display BIOS (v4.0), one beep, Game BIOS version (v4.03) then into the game specific attract animations.
It takes two presses of Start to start the game up and it fires more unusual game audio. The left flipper has stopped working in game, however I can hear that the left flipper button does work when in the Portals service menu. I have checked the voltage on the left flipper coil and it’s getting around 75v, same as the right coil.
The volume diagnostic button does not appear to work but you can get into Portals. As the DMD is off, I can't see anything though.
Apart from the plastics and a broken diode on the 4 bank drop target, the game didn't have any issues last week and played fine. The game experiences the issues with or without the 4 bank drop targets connected so I don't think it's them.
Here is a video of the start up -
I have checked the playfield and backbox fuses. Nothing appears blown or burned out in the backbox. Most (all) of the playfield lamps appear to light and flash when the game starts up.
Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong?
Thanks
Graeme.
