The new Star Wars home edition is getting some interesting official optional upgrades.

The accessories include a Millenium Falcon for the playfield, side blades and “a really kick ass upgraded sound system”.

In Topper news; when it finally lands - the R2D2 topper from the big games plugs & plays.

To create the new shots and make it flow better George Gomez moved everything from the Spidey playfield this is based on. Every ball guide, post, etc is new.

After watching the Dead Flip stream on Twitch; I liked it more than the pro! The new code seems to flow more smoothly than the previous game; it’s less stop / start than the pro /premium/le.

There’s a nice new ball lock feature, metal ramps, drop targets in front of one ramp. Video clips appear more packed and varied than the previous games (yep it’s on a small screen).

The game sounds soooo much better than the official promo video (which used sound-alike “not Star Wars” music.

The new game features the official John Williams theme.

The sound design seems to be tighter / pack more punch than the pro/premium/le.

It’s a full-sized playfield.

I’m a Star Wars fan. The Pro/ premium/ LE didn’t hook me in.
So a used pro isn’t an option.
This is a new game - sharing the media from the previous game.

Load it up with the extras, the sound system upgrade and the R2D2 topper - i’m really tempted!!

Surely if you get every additional extra the cost will be pushing even closer to the cost of a Pro model? It's an interesting idea I just struggle to see who Stern is actually pitching this machine at

That’s true - same with all upgrades. Side blades plus sound system upgrade and topper will push up the price of any game! I didn’t get into the pro, so this works for me. I’m guessing i’m one of the people Stern is pitching this at; a Star Wars fan that likes a blast of pinball!

That's fair enough, do you think you'll get it? Would like to know from someone first hand what they think of it once owning it for a while

I’m very tempted. Yep it’s got a mini screen - the rest seems pretty fun.
At least there is a screen and not score reels 😂 I always find the giant screens covered in animations a bit of a waste as I'm such a bad player I can't watch the ball and a screen 😂

Well, it’s a full-sized playfield and standard Stern in game pop-bumpers, metal ramps, drop targets... so you’ll be fine! For added theatrics - the R2D2 topper (when you can get one!) will be a nice finishing touch.

I suspect by the time it’s got here add the vat electrocoin s cut and the poor dollar rate then it will not be far off the pro this is pretty much dead in the water in the uk
most stern distributors won’t want to touch this as it’s not really there market it’s place is better in toy shop but who is going to walk into smith s toys and spend 4k on a pinball machine as a Christmas present for the kids or family nobody and would the shop be able to offer any kind of warranty erm no

Yep, the VAT, import duty, plus other costs are unfortunate; the game is still a fun looking / sounding little player for a pinball lovin’ Star Wars fan. I shall take a trip to Chicago and see if I can squeeze one into my hand luggage. Also, I like Smyths Toy Shop carrier bags!

Way too expensive to be a toy, looks cheap, will be cheap, and won’t be viable when it needs tweaking back to Costco again and again and again................., I would seriously think hard about buying unless you are keeping it forever or don’t mind losing a boatload of money

For any toy store can you imagine the volume of returns / repairs?

To a certain extent most of us would put up with doing our own repairs as we know how temperamental games are. Can’t see any other group doing the same

If I bought a home cinema / computer and something went wrong then I’d go straight to refund / repair mode. If something went wrong twice the bloody thing would be going back.

I suspect The home/toy market simply wont accept faulty node boards etc.
