Any ideas guys?? machine won't boot , it says "Scotty here" and turns on all lamps when switched on, but it doesn't do the led sequence.... Mpu board voltages 5v and 12v are good. It never flashes the blanking led, has both other leds on, both pia and 5v, they just stay on. Have tried brand new game roms and a new PIA chip, but it still wont boot. I know it also has a fault with the 48v circuit but that shouldn't stop it booting up I dont think..... Why doesn't my "enter" key work on this site?? these and other questions....

Have you tried this:http://www.pinballheaven.co.uk/shop/information.php?info_id=19&osCsid=21b5fc16ec694d7affda38665b68f840

Check for battery acid damage first and foremost, it doesn't matter how good the voltages are...

Assuming no acid damage:
For want of a better way of discribing it - The game sends a boot up signal through the driver pcb, display pcb (& display itself?) and back to the MPU - if this signal does not complete then the game will not boot. So it could be a simple connector issue (try reseating em).. or it could be something else.

I'd take off the coil connectors from the bottom of the driver board in case of a short and see if the game boots. IIRC The driver board is normally marked high and low power coils underneath each connector.

The enter key wont work if one of the coin door switches has been bypassed (or removed altogether). Look for a bit of extra wiring with connectors that join to each other underneath the coin door switch. If you find it try disconnecting (like if you'd just opened the coin door) then see if you can use your enter key. Remember to join them back together before closing the coin door!

Good Luck!

Will look at it all again closely, will let you know how it goes...
