Star Trek TNG problem

I have a Star Trek TNG, normally in working order, today my 9yr old grandson asked to play on it, as I leaned down and flicked on the switch underneath he started pressing the firing trigger repeatedly. Three balls all popped up but non fired, I managed to get the balls out by pushing them up the ramp with my finger and put them back in the machine, turned it back on and it did the same thing.

It then tells me various switches are stuck closed such as 'GND short row 1 is stuck closed. left flipper stuck, right flipper stuck etc
I opened the door and locked in the safety button to do some tests but it goes haywire and rapidly runs through the settings but won't let me stop on anything.

As this is a wide body machine it also preloads some of the ball ejectors using runways under the deck, if any are not located it starts cycling through the coils in an attempt to dislodge a stuck ball.

Any ideas what happened here ?

If you have not moved the machine and it's going haywire ,the first thing I would look at is the CPU to see it the batteries have leaked

Thank you carl, that link shows exactly what my machine is doing so that's a great help so I'll check everything suggested there.

Edit: checked all fuses and non blown, tested with multimeter buzzer and all fuses show continuity

I've sent off for a fuse puller as you can only grip the glass part and some of these fuses have probably been untouched for 25 years. Someone on another forum says pull under the metal end part, really? Another giving 'expert' advice on Youtube just jams a screwdriver under and prises it up.

I’ve always used a screwdriver under one end, twisting carefully until it pops up.

I know what you mean about the force required but you should be ok.
