ST LE Knocks MM Off Pinside Top Spot

Not really surprising. I have never seen so many positive comments for a new game - ever. Sure it will get knocked down but I will be very surprised if it is not in the top 10 in 12 months time. Stern annoy me in lots of ways but SR has made some game.

Unless the LE is a totally different game then it is surprising imo. I've put a ton of credits on the pro in HMV Newcastle and it's not even in my top ten Sterns never mind number one pin of all time

It'll go down. It's a pretty meaningless ranking on pinside when number of reviews is not taken in to consideration. It wasn't my favourite by any means, but not in the top 10 Sterns? So which 10 are above it in your list then?

What are the best 10 Sterns? have they released 10 decent titles? I would struggle to name more than about 6 really good titles without doing some homework.

Off the top of my head

SM
TSPP
TRON
POTC
IM
AC/DC
LOTR
BTDK
FG
MET (haven't played met yet but it looks lovely!)

Ps.

Avatar, TRS, BBH, IJ and Transformers were crap. I haven't played Avengers or most of the earlier games and XMen is plain average but still better than ST. RBION is good too. All my subjective opinion of course

There is a huge difference between pro and LE. It is like rating 2 different games.

Bar the extra couple of plastic spaceships and tarted up trim/LEDs what are the differences?

Eh..

IM.."I played it in Sydney when it first came out. Found it decidedly average"
ACDC.."Never played it but Ac/Dc appears to be highly thought of" Nov 16th 2013

And not played MET per this post.

IM is average imo, so are BDK and Tron. Still enjoyed them more than ST. Was in Glasgow for the day recently and had my first bash on AC/DC in HMV. Enjoyed it

I guess we are like different things. STLE is supposedly a bit like SM but I have tried so many times to like SM but I just don't get it, whereas when I got a chance to play STLE it clicked. And theme is important - if you don't like ST then that will make a difference.

Well here's all the Stern titles since 2000

Elvis
The Sopranos
NASCAR (Grand Prix)
World Poker Tour
Pirates of the Caribbean
Family Guy
Spider-Man
Wheel of Fortune

They've been busy

Play it and you will experience the difference.....

Really? They 'play' that different?

The Pro is missing a drain kick-back and up-kicker from the left lock/mission start but what else is there to alter the play? Didn't think asteroid boulders, toys, wire forms and cab lights etc. would alter play really.

God when you look at that list there's a few real turds in there!

For my money

The Lord of the Rings
AC/DC
Spider-Man

Are easily up there with the best of the 90s games. Currently own two of them and really want an AC/DC in the future

The Simpsons Pinball Party
Ripley's Believe It or Not
The Sopranos

Are good. Well worth giving games room space to,

CSI
Big Buck Hunter
Iron Man
AVATAR
TRON

Are OK but I haven't played most of them enough to grow more attached.

The rest though, God there are some stinkers in there. 24 and Transformers must deserve special attention for utter suckiness though Not sure where I would put ST as I still haven't played it. Sure I've been a bit too harsh on some titles. Really want to love POTC but it bored the **** off me.

Guess it all comes down to personal taste. STLE is incredibly immersive so whilst shots are the same, it just feels very different. I usually don't notice much difference playing LE's v pro's but this time I did. But, like all games, there are plenty of things that could be better.

Price is insane, especially for the display. Really don't like those pinled displays. Already people in USA are trying to fit the color dmd into it. I think it was meant to have the LCD but not ready in time. Interesting times as 2014 is going to see more NIB games appear than any other year.

And you get to 'disco' in the LE:D

I would agree on the immersion. The lights on the le are the biggest upgrade and they do make a difference. The ships also got a pretty good upgrade. These things do add up but you could argue forever and a day if they are worth it.
People talk about flow and rules but this is one game that puts you right in the theme and makes it come alive. After a few games I think I'm actually on the enterprise :) nerd heaven.

Already dropped down to 8th, be interesting to see where it settles after its short lived pole position.
Actually it went down to around 17th in the usual fashion but then bounced back to number 8! Think it will stick in the top 10. Much as though Stern irritate me beyond belief with their totally useless communication re code updates, SR has made a great game, more so if you like the theme.

Loved the movies esp the last one so may track one down, shame they feel like kids toys rather than arcade machines.
