Spike 1 speaker capacitors?

Hi All,

I picked up a stern KISS pro. It’s unmodded throughout so first things are to upgrade the sound.

I have a small curiosity, where googling has left it not quite answered.

There are 47uf electrolytic caps wired in circuit with the speakers.
Are these :-
a) to reduce base frequencies on the cheap (8 Ohm)speakers?
b) for some other reason?

Advice please. Should I bypass these for the upgraded ( 4 Ohm ) speakers or just leave be?

I asked what these where on my Ghostbusters, couldn't work it out, also be interesting, I left them on because when in doubt

Connecting a capacitor in series with a speaker creates a high-pass filter, blocking low frequencies (bass) while allowing high frequencies (treble) to pass through, effectively preventing low-frequency signals from reaching and potentially damaging high-frequency drivers like tweeters. The size of the capacitor determines the cutoff frequency, with larger capacitance values blocking more bass.
