Someone has nicked me dinger!

I have a Williams Teachers Pet as a project and I have been told that there should be a bell and knocker fitted. Looking inside, the bell itself is there but has nothing connected to it. How is this supposed to work and does anyone know what part is missing? All there is is a couple of small screw holes next to the bell itself. Plus, having hopefully got the part, where the hell do you plug it into?
