Soldering kit for a newby on 1974 EM machine.

Pinball newby.

Hello Folks
I am just getting together kit to work on my recent acquisition my first machine a 1974 segasa triple action.
In Pinball repair guide it mentions soldering irons but doesn't mention tip shapes and sizes.Is there a particular favourite?
I am also wondering what size solder I should get I have found some rosin core 60/40 on ebay

if not there are many different sizes on R.S components site.Which am I most likely to use?
Hope this isn't too basic but I don't want to waste money on the wrong stuff.

Buy a good quality iron with readily interchangeable tips. I use a fairly big tip for replacing headers but then swap to a small point tip for component and chip work.
As for solder, I use a tin, lead, silver solder. Expensive but flows beautifully.
One of the biggest mistakes people make when setting about learning (and doing) soldering is buying cheap ****. Think how much replacement stuff on pinballs costs and then a £100+ outlay on a decent soldering setup makes a lot of sense.

However if you can hold fire it seems to go on offer regularly, so if you can hold off and keep an eye on it it'll drop in price soon :D
