He didn’t notice that Susie was dead for two days, so I put her in the freezer in some sawdust and then went to a pet shop and bought an identical one. I call her Susie2, or ‘Susie’ for short.

In the meantime I organised a proper send off for the original Susie, based on this classic Ivan pose @Sgt GrizZ taken many years ago.

It’s not quite finished yet - still needs the hat - but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out:

I think my son might freak out a bit when he sees her.

Dan, no kidding, I think this is good and well presented. We have some very strict society rules on dead things, that should be explored as I am not sure they are good for us.
But I have no idea if your son will be able to deal with this, or anyone else you sees it and isn't on the death positive side of things. But my kid thought it looked like a fun way to remember the hamster.

Thank you for the positive feedback. My son has a fairly open mind though he does sometimes say I am a bit weird. But he’s used to it, a week ago he saw me arguing with train guards on a sleeper train to Turkmenabashy and nearly getting arrested, so I reckon he’ll deal with it ok.

I’m looking forward to the double take he’ll do when I show him - I’ll wait for a good moment (just after or during playtime with Susie2) and maybe set up a video camera for shi_ts and giggles.

Cost me £200 plus about £50 for the mini AFM I got sent from New Zealand. She always loved Quavers.

I didn’t make the thing, I found a good specialist taxidermist with an artistic bent and a good sense of humour, and just told her what I wanted. Plenty of steps along the way. Yes, I’m happy with the way the Quavers turned out. Bear in mind I haven’t actually got the thing yet, I’m off down to the South Coast next weekend to collect her. She should have a straw hat by then, but not too big as I don’t want to spoil her gorgeous looks.

Dan when you was talking about this on our group there was a moment when I think myself and a few others was close to calling an intervention 😂😂
But mate this is absolutely next level brilliance love it , you complete loon.
The mirror ball is and the detail is inspired, we need to get @Matt Adams done soon
