So with the recent introduction of an initial fee to be able to buy and sell within the forum I’ve noticed but there’s not as many games coming up for sale coronavirus related or not? Could this be due to people not wanting to sign up or pay for the forum? Untill a few weeks ago the best game you could play online wants to go onto the Pinball forum and mull over prices of recently posted machines, much like how many of us spend our youth reading and auto trader whilst taking a crap and deciding which car you would possibly buy if you have the cash. But seems a bit like the games recently have dried up that’s only my view. Would there be a way of having members who have paid for the privilege of posting to have a First Dibs system on any games posted by nonpaying members this would in theory be beneficial to people who pay into the site as they can have first choice maybe a day or two is delay before posting for all to see? And it might also bring more games back on the market ? Just a thought

Can’t imagine the lull is anything to do with the seller’s donation rule. Not many on here can’t afford £10 per year ie less than 20p a week.

I don't think there is a fee on buying, plus non-paying members can't post anymore anyway. These are unprecedented times, things will return to normal over time.

There are 'lulls' throughout the year but I think the current lull (if there is one) is Coronavirus related. If people start to get desperate for cash then there may be a spike in games listed.

The $/£ may also have a knock on effect with 2nd hand sales.

I think you spend too long having a crap.

Has slowed down a little. But its little to do with the fee.

Can not believe people are making such a big deal over £10 a year. £10 a month I could understand.

Everyone wants stuff for nothing today - pinball ads, music, films, porn......

All valid points. tbh im suprized this site hasn't got more adverts? it really wouldn't bother me if there was a nice stern add on the first page or a link to any uk based pinball company. I do appreciate that the forum can't be sustained on fresh air. I did sell a black rose via the forum a few years ago and also a blackout but then i also bought them through the forum. I dont really think its something for nothing as offering sale games to "paid up members first" still gives the incentive to contribute ? TBH it was just idol thought and i really wouldn't pay much attention to it.

Ok, as far as I see it; there is always a surge of machines for sale just before xmas (especially TAFs). Then in January there is another surge of machines for sale from people who bought them just for entertainment over xmas. Then there's nothing for sale until summer. Rinse and repeat.

But obviously the lockdown, coronavirus and complete trashing of the economy is absolutely going to affect sales this year. It might not affect values though since tangible hard assets tend to appreciate during economic uncertainty and currency fluctuations.

Adverts don't yield an awful lot.

I run a forum with 4500 members and plenty of traffic and always plenty of people online and posting.

We removed the adverts in the end because they detracted from the quality of the site and yielded about £30 pm

We cranked it up a bit once and had banner adverts as well as at the bottom and sides. The trouble is that the adverts which pay the best CPM's are the most aggressive and p1ss people off.

Donations are definitely the way forward.

On the other issue it has to be the virus that's impacting the market. I certainly wouldn't be buying or selling pinball's at the moment.

There's also usually a rise in sales once Stern or JJP announce their latest games, can't see any of them releasing games in the immediate future.

However with everyone isolating, and working on their machines I expect the next lot of machines to all be slightly higher having been fully shopped.

Adverts are something i would do as a last resort, however - that wasn't the reason it was done.

Unfortunately a first dibs system would be a nightmare to police, and also - to be honest - Why? It's up to sellers to sell to who they want to.. Me nor anyone should ever be able to take that right away..

All very valid points I wasn’t trying to stir things up it was just an idle thought I will probably be paying a £10 subscription at some point.

£10 subs a very good idea to keep idiots from wasting our time.

Listings are down due to Corona
