Scared stiff coffin spring

Can anyone give me any tips or info on how to change the coffin spring on an SS
The spring on mine is bust but not sure of fitting the new one. Thanks.

Mine broken a while ago and I can’t work out if it goes through the top of the lid or the bottom.

I changed one on a mates the other week. The pin that holds on the lid enters from the top and had a slight bend at the base. I used long nose pillars to bend it straight. When I did this i could pull out the pin, put in new spring, put back the long pin and re bend at the end. It was slightly easier than i thought

Didn’t think you would be able to straighten the pin and slide it out without breaking the mech. Works perfect now..

The pin on mine is flattened at both ends

Should just pull out with pliers then..
