S.A.M CPU PCB question

Good Morning
Any idea what this modification could be for or is it just a bad repair ?
It's connected to L4 5v line, looks like D10 has been removed and then a few components linked to R65
I would like to put it back to how it came out the factory, but was there a problem which this modification solves ?

I have been informed its a factory mod, I thought it was some DIY repair.
I have stripped the playfield, so just wanted to make sure the boards are good.
