Rivet Press/Tool

I am about to tackle some rivets on a plastic ramp and some metal parts and wonder what tool people use? I know there are proper bench presses and then hand tools and finally tool-less methods such as rivet clips.

Do rivet clips do the job?

Should I consider a Rivet tool and is there a recommendation?

It is not like I need a press or will be doing that many rivets but I don't mind spending some money on a tool that is small and can be put away.

Thanks.

You can do it, if you B&Q it.

Most if not all tools can be purchased from them. If not try Phil (Pinball Heaven).

I made the tool from a piece of steel. To be honest I think you could do a pretty good job using a g clamp and a ball bearing to flare out the end of the rivet.

Pop rivets like you get in b and q look gash. If you don't want to rivet, use small bolts and nuts. On ramp flaps the rivets are offset to such a degree that a screw head wont interfere with a ball

Are the Pinbits available from a UK distributor? I have at least four to do and maybe more if I take the flasher lamps out and clean them so need about 12 rivets max.

I think I do want the original look so bolts are out right for now but I might change my mind if it gets to messy.

I don't think so although could be worth trying the Legend and Phil. Pam at Pinbits is great to deal with though. When I bought my JD deadworld mod plus other bits and pieces she marked it as a gift with a value under the import tax limit ($25 I think) so I didn't get any extra charges on this side
