RGB LED issue

One for the LED techies here:

I have an RGB LED that colour cycles properly when attached to a 6V battery box but stays on red when attached to a bulb socket on the play field.

Anyone know why this is the case ?

Battery box has a DC output. Lamp socket has an AC output.

General illumination? AC supply, so LED being turned on/off at 50Hz.Or playfield controlled lamps are strobed, so LED repeatedly being turned on/off so LED returning to start colour. Don't know this for sure, just my hypothesis.
Is this an off the shelf LED or something sold as a pinball part?

An off the shelf LED. Attached to GI socket so AC is the issue I guess thanks guys

Install a rectifier. May work?

You need at minimum a diode and a capacitor to make it work properly from AC

Blimey - I think I'll leave it red - it's in a TZ Airliner mod that I made.
