RFM Flipper Problem

Hi guys,

While playing my RFM, I noticed the left flipper staying up even when the button was not pressed. It returned to normal after the game, or when the game was switch off, so nothing physical.

In switch test, sure enough the right buttons work fine, but the left does not (although the mode selctor button does work). I've removed the little PCB from behind the buttons and again, in switch test the mode selector button works, but not the flipper button. So, it looks like a problem with the little board.

I've not seen one of these boards before and it does not look like there is any adjustment etc. Can anyone let me know how I can fix this - is there anything on the board I can clean/adjust, or is it a case of finding a replacement board?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Sorry, but I am unfamiliar with these switches. So can't help with a repair

But at least the boards are available at Marco specialties, pinballcenter.eu. The uk chaps may well have them too

Hi Mark
as you can see these are sealed switches and cannot be repaired. If you handy with a soldering-iron you could swap S1 & S2 over to definitely prove that's the problem. i think S1 is the flipper and S2 the feature. If you do prove its the switch drop me a PM as i think i got some of the switches somewhere.

Thanks guys, I'm not great with a soldering iron so will probably try and get a replacement!

I'll try the UK guys first - any idea who might stock them?

Cheers,

Mark

if it was WPC95 or DE instead of Pin2000, a flipper stuck in the up position that comes down on power off would make you want to check/replace the diode on the flipper coil, or the transistors (two of em, the initial fire one and the 'hold' one) on the fliptronics board. i don't know for sure, but i'm guessing the same probably applies to P2000 and that they didn't redesign the wheel

Hi Dan, thanks for the info. I will remember that in future, but this time I think it is probably the switch - I probably didn't explain it well, but the flipper wasn't constantly stuck up - it sometimes activated without the button being pressed, and also did not activate when the button was pressed. Although after a while it would drop down by itself. I was expecting it to be some adjustment required with the switch, but didn't realise until I investigated that the switch is part of a little sealed PCB.

I'll try the usual UK places to see if I can buy one anywhere. If anyone has one lying around, let me know :)

Cheers, Mark
