Anybody know of a UK based supplier of brand new CNC cut cabinets for a Williams machine?

Hi
Didn't want to post a new thread but does anyone in the uk make new cabinets or have plans?
I want to get a new or decent used cabinet for my BSD?
Cheers

I raised this question 6 months ago. Need one for my corvette.
They can be made but it ain’t cheap. (£800 ish)
Try Retro arcade specialists in Gt Yarmouth. Think they may make them

They are very expensive.

The guy in stratford I am unusure what happened with him. He built two cabs for people I know and were incorrect.

I was considering looking into doing this

It wont be £800-1000 either!

Why is it so difficult, would think it’s pretty simple? Would love to know what makes it a nightmare and expensive process.
My guesses:

- Firstly, it's common for people to massively underestimate how long woodworking takes - there would be a lot of man-hours if done on a limited scale.
- The more basic the tools, the longer it will take. Tools to do this commercially would cost thousands, tens of thousands if bought new. To do it as a one off as an individual, I'd want a good router and bits, table saw (ideally a panel saw tbh), drill, plunge/track saw, exact templates of many cab parts (which presumably you would need to actually make first), a large amount of large clamps, a massive bench and somewhere to make it - this is thousands of pounds of gear.
- Pin cabs contain many non-right-angles, so you'd really want to use a template cutting technique - this will add time. Or CNC cut the parts - which is costly for low volumes.
- They contain cut-out holes like the coin door, which will need routing out using an accurate template.
- Like all construction materials, plywood (and this application would need top quality ply) is now ridiculously expensive.

I'd guess if a carpenter was making a one-off for around £800, then they'd be paying themselves less than minimum wage to do it, or make a mess of it.

Well said and don’t forget most cabinet s are individual to that game most people think that all cabs are the same they are not
Also most English pinball people are not the most lavish spenders so you would be on to a non start straight away

I would be happy to pay the money to be honest and I'm from Scotland hahaha but I totally get what everyone is saying just wondered if there was anyone that still offered the service.
Ill hopefully get a decent second hand one that i can use or maybe get some plans (possibly off pinside) and spend a fortune getting my joiner friend to make me one.
Chris I take it my BSD wouldn't be similar to any of the other 90's williams games?
Appreciate any info and help given folks 🤘

Not one of the U.K. pinballs brightest moments, Manny built amazing cabinets but was practically chased out the hobby by pitchforks and fires.
Oh, did he comment on the price of someone's for sale ad?

I believe my Scared Stiff is using a Manny cab.

My advice would be to repair what you have unless it's utter garbage.

I tried pinballshop.nl but they stopped stocking them due to soaring prices for wood in the US.

Dave at Retro Arcade Specialists knows it's a requirement and has the CNC cutter but staff shortages and a whole slew of over things have taken priority for him.

By all means reach out to him. The more interest there is, the higher the priority it will get.

Manny was long long long before my time and illustrates what a glorious community we have of course but since I arrived I’ve brought a new class to this forum 😂 where I get abused and people then actually apologise, well most of them 🕶

i looked for a cabinet a while back for my ToM and even if you find someone who can do it the cost to do it properly is super money and the the chances of it being a bit wobbly are high - I saw a replacement cabinet for an TAF where the sides were bowing and you could make the whole playfield move in an advantage way without the tilt Bob moving. my final plan was to order a remake cabinet via CGC and adjust it but I never got round to it. There is A guy in Texas who makes flat packed stern electronics cabs that were pretty decent quality and priced reasonably.

I have had a few Manny cabs, new builds and refurb. I took my FT cab to him about 10 years ago, he was at a low point then and struggling mentally and financially but I had faith in him. He came through with his usual high standards😎

All Manny cabs, FT refurb others new. Quality isn’t cheap!

What's up with the old cab?
Hi, it has quite a lot of damage to one of the corers. I know it could be fixed to a point but im not adverse to getting a new cab, ill never sell this machine. wish id never sold any of them now hahahahaha

Decals may not be your preferance but obviously buy to suit.

Hey yeah seen your shop log looks great my cab is needing quite a bit more work than yours did haha, I have a full set of decals to use but time will tell I have a friend that i would need to give me advice if i go down the route of swapping everything over. I personally would rather have a new or good used cab to decal whilst I still have my game up and running as its my only pin.
Then once its ready for the complete swap over I can do that. If I need to strip everything off & out to repair it Im happy to go down the route of another cabinet and still play mine whilst i do it.

Even Stern must be feeling the squeeze on cabinets this past year, as they have discontinued vault and spike1 cabinets.

Sounds fixable. as long as it’s not warped due to water/damp and isn’t rotten or badly woodwormed, then i’d repair it.

Cost of a new cab is like £1k minimum these days.

They shouldn't be, but thats the prices I was being provided. You can repair for half of that. This way you'll know it will fit your existing pin and no nasty surprises.

Honestly just get stuck in with some wood filler and an orbital sander!

Failing that, take it to someone like @Ant-H , @CHRIS B PINBALLS , @jagman or just a chippy who's worth his salt and get them to do it :D

I'm doing a CAB restore with @jagman this Friday and we normally complete in 2 days.

I know you said you want to have the pin operational while the work is on but honestly its just 2 days :D

Here’s a nightmare that I’m having repaired currently due to not being able to source a cabinet
